Forums - Sony - Best-looking PS2 game to date.

My fav game on the PS2 would have to be Final Fantasy X, the jump in detail and complexity from the PS1 games was immense and actually made my jaw drop at points

No one else agrees with my pick?  You really have to see it in motion to truly appreciate it.

Odin Sphere is the epitome of 2D design.  It's far more advanced in 2D graphics than any of the games you guys are posting are in 3D graphics, and it was actually a little too much for the PS2 to handle (has some FR issues because of it).

Looks like a super jacked up flash game. I wonder how it would have looked if all the sprites were handdrawn in HD.

Anyways, SoTC looked more impressive IMO. The scale of the models during movement were extremely impressive for the PS2, much less GC and Xbox. And SH3's facial models and animation even rivals what PS3 and 360 games can do.

.... wow, that's worse than all the Wii fans saying everything on PS3 and 360 can be done on Wii.  You sir fail.  Everything in the game is hand drawn, and it's one of the most gorgeous games ever made.

To be completely honest I suppose Flash on a new PC should be a pretty strong contender to the PS2 when it comes to 2D drawings. So the statement may not even be so far away from the mark (even if it was a bit trollish)

Flash may suck in many things but it can do one thing really well. Drawing shapes and sprites. While the Ps2 was optimized for polygon throughput.

But that doesn't mean that its a bad looking game. I thing developers should do more 2D games anyway. Not exactly my preferred graphic style but impressive nonetheless.

Are FMVs really fair game for this kind of thing?

ok, FFX, Star Wars(looks current gen) and Jak II are the only FMVs in this thread. Metal Gear Solid 3, Silent Hill, Shadow of The Colossus,

GOWII and the rest are all in-game graphics.

I thought MGS3's cutscenes were "touched up"...as in using the ingame engine but with extra stuff and shine.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
