Actually... I'm starting to think that there WAS a hardware increase, only it was so spread out and gradual that we didn't really notice it - and assumed that this was the normal sales pattern for the consoles. Remember how high 360 and PS3 sales were all throughout February, March, and April? Quick recap of worldwide averages:
Feb PS3 184k/week, 360 129k/week
Mar PS3 181k/week, 360 143k/week
Apr PS3 163k/week, 360 127k/week
These were both vastly higher than in 2007's early months of the year, remember. Perhaps now sales are simply falling back to their natural non-holiday sales levels. 50k weekly sales in America are probably normal for PS3 and 360, in periods with no big releases. (Sales are still elevated in Europe, and will likely continue to go down for some time.)
Obviously it's just a guess, but there may be some validity to it.
End of 2008 totals: Wii 42m, 360 24m, PS3 18.5m (made Jan. 4, 2008)
^no maybe your right, some people might of bought a ps3/360 for gta4 but earlier then its release

The funny thing is, is that that is entirely possible (was that really a legitimate sentence? "is, is that that is"?)
I put my prediction league number at 360k (which would likely be enough for Wii to pass 360) but I decided to up it as I figured Wii Fit is being marketed so much more than Mario Kart so they will likely have more consoles to help it.
I think myself that the Wii might continue it's rollercoaster weeks in America for a few weeks yet, except the low weeks will still be more than PS3+360, just like this week.

hey don't blame the hardcore gamer, blame the price. even hardcore gamers have a limit on price range.
Damn this week has totally messed up my predictions for next week. PS3, 360 and PSP are already lower than my predictions and I was thinking they would go down a bit.... and DS has gone off too, why is it so low this week?

Nonetheless probably considering how low 360 sales are right now.

Are we still waiting for that big GTA IV boost in concole sales?
