| Blood_Tears said: As a PS3 fan i am actually embarrassed to read this thread. The 360 guys are gonna either rip this apart or ignore it completely as it's mind boggling why someone would want to wait a year for game. *sighs* Gears 2, NG2 etc. These games are published by Microsoft and have no chance of going to PS3. I would love it if it did but thinking other wise is just not reality. The same reason why KZ2 won't be on the 360,cause it's published by Sony, they have the rights to it.... Not too mention, the ports we get like Lost Planet are just lazy devs trying to see if they can get a little extra cash with little extra effort. I've been a sony fan all my life but even i can't justify a crappy port when i see one. Here's hoping Bioshock can change my opinion... |
This is exactly what I was curious about. I think jumping on a title the day, month, or in some cases even year it comes out is essentially becoming a hardcore gamer phenominon. I own on the order of 400 games (no typo. 400. probably more), and probably play 20 hours or more a week. Yet... I can no longer see the reason to spend $60 on a game when I know that its going to come out next year, in much improved fashion, on what is (IMO) a better platform (honestly, besides the exclusives, the controller is what makes the PS3 better than the 360 for me... I dislike the asymmetry and heft of the 360 controller. The XBox controller stunk too.)
As a long-time gamer, I play good games for the experience -- not to claim that I finished it before all my friends did. If the experience is going to be enriched, in terms of content, framerate (yep, the long-term ports ARE better, framerate wise, its only the cross-plat releases that seem to suffer on the PS3), and for me, the controller, by waiting a year or so, AND I can save money (in many cases), then... heck yeah. I want the full experience -- not the beta test.
Games developers like Blizzard, and LookingGlass/Irrational/2K are great *because* they don't release their games until they are done. In the console world, another year almost always results in bundled extra content (for free), less bugs, and better framerate. Awesome, when there are so many great games to play these days.
