Forums - Nintendo - So I tried to play Boom Blox...

Also, just curious, what things did you try that didn't work?

twesterm: I found some results on google, although they were about the EU version. One person "recalibrated" by going straight up and then back on the screen. That worked a couple of times. I also noticed that the hand was upsidedown so I flipped the Wiimote over a few times to get it set correctly. But no matter what I did I couldn't throw on the first training level. I thought I was going crazy.

Perhaps DKII is right and it just needs to be charged or something. I'll test it out later, because...

Boom Blox is already awesome. Wow.

hmm, just yesterday i was making fun of my co-worker at work because he claimed that he played MK with inversed remote at the lunch room.

I guess it's not because he held the wheel backward. lol

Try changing the batteries and re-pairing the remote with the Wii. And a few Wii restarts and a system update. I'm sure something will help.

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.

I have similar issues when my Wiimote is detecting other sources of infrared light. Are you playing near a window? Are there any windows reflecting off your TV screen? If sunlight is entering the room well enough, the IR light in the sun's rays will actually interfere with the Wiimote's sensing.

PS: I've played the EU version, control worked fine.

Grampy: No, I was not smart enough to try different Wiimotes. Just did, though, and it worked! That's so weird because I've been using the other Wiimote all weekend...

Hawk: does that Wiimote keep reversing in the Wii main menu and other games? Mine worked fine until I loaded the game...

Strange stuff.

Hmm I noticed mine did a short spurt of reversal on Mario Kart Wii today (I don't have Boom Blox) the batteries were about to run out though, so perhaps it was that.

Sometimes if you point away from the screen and point back the cursor will be upside down or not move where you want it to (usually in the main Wii menu) but a quick shake fixes that (it makes it realise which way up it is)

I've had times when the tilt sensor did not work right (this would result in strange IR pointer directions).

The solution I got from Nintendo tech support was to hold the remote upside down, then swing it into the palm of your hand. This did fix my problem and it could be a similar solution for yours, if not call Nintendo to get it replaced.

This is a good reason for it to go off on one.... but like I said a quick shake of the remote should always fix that (unless it is broken)

The pointing functions on the Wii have to use a balance of the IR sensor and the motion controls because although it can detect twist using the IR perfectly well, it cannot do it when you point off screen so it needs a check/fail safe type thing with the gyroscope or whetever measures tilt inside the remote.

Which is why sometimes on the Wii menu you can point off then on screen to find the hand is upside down, but shaking (or sometimes just time) will always correct it.

I don't think other sources of light should not make it inverted controls though (where left/right and up/down are changed) unless the other sources of light were moving fast in front of the remote.

I could be wrong though.

@windbane if it is a problem with the electronic motion sensors, (I am not sure if it is) try hitting the remote into your hand, you can do it quite hard, this may fix the remote. (sometimes parts of the motion sensor can get stuck, and hitting it will break those parts so they are not in the way of their substitutes)

Two thoughts,

1. Check your battery.

2. Are you using a Nyko charging station? These apparantly have no "shutoff" during recharge and overcharge the remote, causing fry-age quite often. If this is the case, it voids Nintendo's warranty.

3. If neither 1 or 2, just call Nintendo, they have amazing tech service with very little hold time.

BAM! There it is!
