Hmm I noticed mine did a short spurt of reversal on Mario Kart Wii today (I don't have Boom Blox) the batteries were about to run out though, so perhaps it was that.
Sometimes if you point away from the screen and point back the cursor will be upside down or not move where you want it to (usually in the main Wii menu) but a quick shake fixes that (it makes it realise which way up it is)
