always amazed at the "real" reaction these SDF threads get.

I have just been looking at the trailers and that and to be honest the game does look good, but graphically it looks about the same as the first one. So i guess people was correct when they were saying that GeOW was maxing out the hardware og the x360

I somehow doubt that the xbox360 was "maxed" on GOW... Besides Epic have an engine to sell! They need to show it off in the best light possible. They are good at making engines you know, so im pretty sure they've gotten something extra out of it. Things like extra enemies on screen, larger levels, bigger multiplayer, more refined engine for better textures etc etc.

 I'm sure you're one of the people that calls this article subtle humour when it couldn't be any more obvious.

Lol. SDF is always good for a laugh. make the whole gametrailers debacle from yesterday look like the epitamy of fairneess.

Come on, did anyone here seriously not expect this?

Both games look fantastic, despite their obvious doctoring of the Gears shots. From a certain point of view (and this is coming from a Gears fanatic), I could see how some would find Resistance 2 somewhat better (seemingly better lighting shadow effects, since Gears is taking place in an extremely well-lit canyon, and a few other things). But Gears also has advantages, such as rendering a much bigger environment with the game rendering dozens if not hundreds of enemies (granted, it's on-rails and they may not be as detailed as regular enemies up close).

We also need to take into account that Killzone has had FOUR YEARS(!) of development time vs. Gears' one.

Question: Do we know anything about the framerate for either game? Gears looked like 60 to me, but I could be wrong, and I haven't watched the Killzone one yet.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

oh wow, just wow, lol

You guys realize that if KZ2 tanks, it will scare off a lot of Devs from even attempting to pull that hard to get power out of the PS3. It has cost a lot of money... I hope it can make it all back thats all.

Killzone 2 looks smooth, but you honestly can't tell what the framerate is until you play it on a television.

The only thing that I've seen K2 do amazingly well so far is lighting. The textures are good, but nothing I haven't seen before, while the colours are terrible. I'm hoping that there will be other environments in K2 that will use real colour rather than the gritty bullshit browns and greys that so many games use these days, but I can't see it happening.

The FPS genre is becoming really stale recently. I'd like to see developers take a risk and create a colourful and artistic FPS game for the HD consoles. If Mirror's Edge sells well, we may possibly see one.

@shameless

do you mean a kind of cell shaded FPS game....sound very cool
