Data like this makes you wonder if they're overshooting the number. I'm not sure if 10X normal weekly sales is rare enough to be considered limited. Can MGS4 really get PS3 sales in Japan up to like 50K for a week? Or will the MGS4 bundle end up like the Limited Edition Halo Model?

The reason Valkyrie Profile may have bombed is because it doesn't actually exist on the PS3.

Disgaea was never a major seller so that's not really a surprise...

Nothing to get happy about. We all expected Wii to dominate again in Japan. Sales are so low for the PS3. I'm figuring Sony needs to release some software to get those PS2 owners to jump aboard next-generation. Or it might already be to late.

X360 is not surprising. PSP sales are hanging in there. Awesome job for Nintendo DS.

Everyone is doing what is expected in my opinion. It's just I'm kinda worried about Sony Playstation 3 :(

A lot of Jap. people have DSs already, so after 4 years, sales would obviously slow a little. Don't expect 675k weeks from Ninty too often. I think was just to instill the current dominance Nintendo has; a really big warning shot, but welcoming committee. The 360 is dead in Japan, its official now. The PS3 won't get FFXIII til' LATE this year or next year, who knows? I haven't heard any new info about it. No screenshots, main character name..... nada. MGS4 will boost sales a little while (it is pretty awesome). The Wii is in a similar (slightly) situation than the PS3 GAMEWISE. When I mean games, I mean 3rd party. They are making games that will be acknowledged as being released "later". *WHY RYGAR??* PSP is selling very well, but there isn't BIG software coming consistently enough to complement HW sales. Ithink people are getting PSP because, they are probably DSed out.

Well, that's dumb. Japanese developers (Capcom and Konami) know where the money hence their HD exclusives (Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Street Fighter4, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, MGS4, etc). Including what Square is doing with Last Remnant. They are launching it in America at the same time as Japan.

 Yeah... and 100K or so for a SRPG is actually pretty good.  That's why they never get released over here sadly.

The PSP is doing great in Japan :D Oh and the Wii is a killer in worldwide sales :o

Meh, bad weather I guess - any who nice stuff, PSP is really doing it's stuff, by this point I think it's safe to assume those buying it are a mix of people buying it for games and people buying it for other purposes. I wonder what this means for gaming in Japan.

Wii is the number 2 seller in Japan, the unit numbers did go up but not by a lot which could probably mean Mario Kart didn't move as many units as some are speculating and still leads into last week just being Nintendo trying to find the demand curve in the US.


DS doing it's thing but since Nintendo took most of their teams from DS development to Wii development it's really up to 3rd parties to carry that platform. The World Ends With You is a nice addition to the library though. Square seems to be the dominant brand outside of Nintendo on the DS.

PS360 - ouch 360 is dead, and if my suspicions are correct 1 japanese guy keeps on buying them by the truck load. PS3 I don't know... how many PS3's are being supplied to Japan monthly, 44k a month isn't bad, but it's not great.

I'm pretty sure Wii has 50% in japan by now.

the Ps3 is in a state where it NEEDS

a PS3 slim + FF13 launch to kick start sales....ala CC:FF7 for PSP

but FF13 alone won't do the job...it will give it the much needed image in Japan but Ps3 needs GT 5 out then as well..
