Surely Chart-Track/MCV news about GTA IV's performance is amazing what I doubt however is the long term sales compared to GTA:SA on PS2 ( and Xbox ).

San Andreas has sold 21.5m in 3 1/2 years according to Take 2, so we'll have a long wait to find out. Different analysts were forecasting between 14m and 18m this financial year. Take 2 said they thought analyst predictions were too low. If it does end up outselling GTA: SA it's not going to happen for a couple of years.

Great numbers for the PS3.
The 360 outperformed the PS3 in terms of overall software sales , but the attatch rate for the PS3 version is crazy .
I'm looking forward to hardware numbers.
