Forums - Sony - MGO Beta: How is it?

Yeah, I now definitely need a higher CQC level. You can stun with the knife if you use L1 and then hit R2.

ah, weird actually, I was just playin a game where Snake got out of my lvl 2 CQC lrolled-over choke hold. Maybe CQC level can cancel others out or maybe it's just Snake. It happened a couple of times.

It's interesting, it's a more refined control scheme compared to MGS3, but it's still pretty complicated in its own right.

Ah i don't know... probably it's because in the ability section Snake is considered a "Legendary Hero" he probably is level 3 everything... If Snake CQC you thre is no way out... really...

Anyway I haven't been playing today because of a small game called "GTA IV"... Anyone heard about it, everyone say it's good! hehehe :P

Yeah, I know Snake at least has the equivalent of knife mastery level 3 because he can slit throats in CQC, and he does seem to be able to knock people out pretty quickly by choking them.

He is definitely better than my CQC level 1 skills :(

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. I just got around to downloading the beta via a japanese account, and right now its updating. So I haven't actually played it, but I did watch the included trailer and one thing really stuck out; Are the animations actually that bad?

Really, the animations in the trailers are laughably bad. The stitching is terrible, characters turn on a dime and almost every movement is jerky. I can't believe the actually game will be that bad, especially since they have all the MGS4 animations to go off of, but why the hell would they included a trailer where things are that rough?

I dunno sieanr, maybe it's about the gameplay? Turning around on a dime is called playability. Other than that, I have no idea what you mean.

No you are definitely right about everything on the trailer looking shitty.  I noticed that myself.

To be 100% honest I have never noticed the same kind of jerkiness while actually playing the game.  Maybe in CQC, but that is only if people don't know what they are doing.  Compared to what I would have expected solely from watching that trailer, the game is way more polished than I thought it would be.

Good luck getting into the servers.  I had no luck with my Euro copy and had to delete the whole thing and get a US one.  If you get an error code 090B:00000001, then you are fucked because it knows you are playing from the wrong region.  Just a fair warning.

Did you try it using an account set up for Euro? I guess it knows from some machine ID?

Yeah, I tried a US and Euro account, neither worked.  Same error code.  The files are definitely different.  The U.S. one has the ESRB warning as well as a few other intro sequences not on the EU one.
