Do you feel ready for next gen to arrive soon?

Yes, I'm ready 2 6.45%

Nah, it's too soon 29 93.55%

I'm passing on the next PlayStation at launch—I'm sticking with my PS5 until at least 2030.

Every prior console generation truly maximized the hardware, but this generation feels stagnant. PS5 games mostly just look like slightly prettier PS4 games to my eyes.

No! Feels like this generation has barely happened!

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

If PS6 is around $1000 or more and PS5 goes down to $500 or under (for the disc version) I would probably just buy a second PS5 at the point. But something tells me if PS6 is $1000 then PS5 isn't going under $600.

I have a huge digital library, but I don't feel like I'll get a PS6 if it can't at least play physical PS4 and PS5 games (since there will be no physical PS6 games).

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 159 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million, then 161 million)

PS5: 116 million (was 105 million, then 115 million, then 122 million)

Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

I feel like fact that graphics have reached a point of somewhat diminishing returns, combined with the fact that many games were crossgen even like 3 years into this gen, (heck, COD came to PS4/XBO even 5 years in) kinda combines to make it feel like this gen has only just started even though we're at the point where historically a gen would be ending.

Plus, as others have said, the relatively smaller number of iconic big games this gen due to factors like longer dev times and Sony's live service push.

PS5 and Xbox Series X also don't really feel like they're near to tapped out compared to where PS4/XBO or PS3/360 were at 6 years in, again cos of the crossgen period, and the fact that nowadays graphics seem more bound by time, resources, money, etc rather than raw power.

It was me! I didn't realise everyone else had voted "no" lol.

I just sold my Halo Xbox Series X for £760 and felt that now was a good time to bridge that gap to next gen, so yeah.. made a good profit if there £1,000 I'm ready XD

I'm 50:50 though.

I agree, hardware isn't needed we just need more games

But I'm also bored of both my PS5+XSX so I'm selling both ready for what's next

Spoiler, the next machines are just going to give a little better resolutions/framerates and that's it. They will not solve your boredom.

We need better games.

No disk no buy. Switch 2 just came out and will probably have an 8 to 10-year life cycle.

Very true - I just hope there's something new to be excited about.

If next gen comes any time soon, this gen will have to go down as the absolute worst generation of gaming ever.

Most importantly, no fucking games. Especially Sony but also MS have been pretty meh when it comes to games. The only thing Xbox has had going for it are a slew of smaller scale almost AA type games that have been pretty good. But outside of Avowed, I probably wouldn’t have played most of them outside of GamePass.

But at least MS has had that. Sony has had jack shit. AAA gaming as a whole has been a disaster this gen. And then you have the gargantuan price increases. I was in Wally the other day browsing their sad physical game sections and saw $400 Switch 1 consoles and $500 Series S consoles LOL. Pathetic.

If next gen launches within the next couple of years I’d just play way less console games.

I don’t really need a ps6 and I will not buy the next xboX my pc will fill in the gap there with my 4080 so I vote no. The only console I am interested in is the rumored portable ps5/6 handheld.
Since this is basically a ps5 I don’t relly consider it next gen.

Current gen I own both series x and ps5 since 2021 and there are so many games I still need to play. Graphics of them are perfectly fine and don’t justify an upgrade currently unless it is really groundbreaking
