Do you feel ready for next gen to arrive soon?

Yes, I'm ready 2 6.45%

Nah, it's too soon 29 93.55%

I'm currently back on Steam, my old 1060 gaming laptop is still perfectly capable for the games I'm interested in. Modern AAA games are too huge, too detailed, too many options, they're not fun to play anymore. Definitely not ready for another console. I still use PSVR2, for games I already have. But I'm still interested in GTA6, just to drive/mess around in the sandbox.

Welp, this one of the most decisive polls I can remember, 13 votes in and not a single voter feels ready for the next gen.

In 30+ years as a gamer, I can't ever remember there being less enthusiasm for what's next 6 years into a generation.

I've lost my enthusiasm for another console. The next consoles are going to have to blow me away for me to even consider buying one in the first few years of it.

This feels like a trick question, because as soon as there's no more physical games, a console platform might as well be dead to me. It sounds like that'll happen even before the next generation, at least for the console I own, so it's irrelevant when the next generation comes or if it comes at all.

Hypothetically speaking though, if physical games continue to be a thing on PlayStation, I would not feel at all ready for the next generation. I've owned a PS5 for less than a year, and I don't see why there would already have to be a new console. With the pricing trend we've seen this generation, the longer until the next gen, the better.

Well I'm excited to see something new for PlayStation! I may not be purchasing, but 2020 was seven years ago... I don't think some of you realize how much tech has evolved since then. I look at my iPhone from 2021, and that thing runs abysmally compared to my 2024 iPad.

18 now!

I just bought a 9070 though for 750 on gumtree. Which is basically Craigslist for you guys in the US.

I'm set for the next 5 years. Will likely not get a neXbox at launch. Which will be the first in 2 gens and 3 out of the 4 as I got the og on launch.

Oh I know Gumtree, I'm Australian as well. :)

But yeah no interest in PS6 or Nextbox for me either, my current systems should be enough to keep me going for many years, and with the likelihood that both will be digital only, cost like $1000+, and be almost entirely crossgen software, neither seems likely to appeal to my personal tastes.

I'm not interested in any new console or PC part, except maybe Switch 2. I don't really care whether they launch tomorrow or in 2-3 years.

But I can't say I understand why many people want them to come out in 2028 at the earliest. Like.... what if prices keep going up? Wouldn't it be a mistake then that they didn't launch them earlier and cheaper? And it's not like launching a new console in this day and age will have an impact on older consoles' support, especially not PS5's. Switch 2, older consoles, and comparable PC's will be every developer's main platforms for so many years regardless of when the new ones are launching.

Well, looks like we finally have our first "yes" vote!

Pray tell, brave stranger, the reasons for your vote?

It was me! I didn't realise everyone else had voted "no" lol.

I just sold my Halo Xbox Series X for £760 and felt that now was a good time to bridge that gap to next gen, so yeah.. made a good profit if there £1,000 I'm ready XD

I'm 50:50 though.

I agree, hardware isn't needed we just need more games

But I'm also bored of both my PS5+XSX so I'm selling both ready for what's next
