With all the negative news recently I thought it might be good to look on the brighter side; what was the last piece of gaming news that made you happy/excited, and why?

Mine's the announcement of indie shooter Cultic for consoles next month; been watching this one for years and thrilled I'll finally get the chance to play it on my platform of choice: https://www.vgchartz.com/article/468278/cultic-launches-july-23-for-switch-2-ps5-and-xbox-series/

That reminds me I still have Wrath: Eon of Ruin to finish

That was a fun surprise when it launched on PSVR2, never heard of it before, insta buy, insta fun.

I don't look into what's coming anymore. It's more fun this way when new content drops. Like the latest 'gaming news' that made me happy was Synthriders releasing a 13 song Lincoln Park DLC, insta buy.

I'm happy PSVR2 still gets supported by 3rd parties, It's too hot now for VR though :/ Heat wave has arrived.

Happy would be an understatement, I was quite ecstatic:
Witcher 3: Songs of the Past.

Although, that soon vanished for two reasons: 2027 and no Switch version, which means I probably won’t be playing it. Although, there is speculation of a Switch 2 version.

Other than that, I am generally happy when I see a game I want on discount on the EShop, so it is not a rare thing for me.

I wasn’t really aware of any of this negative news?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Update, I just learned about FFXDEC4KS2M (FFX Definitive Edition Collection 4K Switch 2 Remsaster!) and it is coming next month!

At what point do devs not just think to call a new release such as this “FFX Remastered”? Lol that’s one crazy name.

Seeing Deltarune Chapter 5 on the last Nintendo Direct legit made me smile like an idiot.

Dusk, Prodeus, Severed Steel, and Warhammer 40K Boltgun were also fun "boomer" shooters in this vein.

As someone who grew up in the 90s I love these throwbacks to a simpler time.

When Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 was first shown at Xbox showcase in 2024. Seems so long ago but it was a single still I instantly showed a work mate saying "Look look, it's like an FFX timeline".

Modern high-fidelity graphics in a turn based game? Sold instantly.

Hmm, pie.

God has entered the chat.

Spoiler!
There are very far between games I'd pre-order a collector's edition for without even watching a trailer, but this is one of them.

The last time gaming news made me truly happy? As in, not just interested and then disappointment or let down later? Hm. I really don't know. It's been more than a decade, though. I can tell you that. I remember being happy about PS4's used-game position when Microsoft was trying to jump off a cliff. LBP3 excited me. But it's a long, long time.

Oh man, there are so many!

Most recently, on June 11, I learned that Super Rare Games partnered with Deck13 and Matthias Linda to produce a physical Switch version of one of my favorite games of the last decade, Chained Echoes.

Two days before that, Nintendo dropped news on Pokopia DLC, plus Xenoblade Genesis and the Ocarina remake (although that last one was spoiled by leakers).

Four days before that, we finally got new gameplay footage of gen ATLAS, one of my most anticipated games.

On May 28, Fangamer revealed Switch 2 physical versions for both Hollow Knight and Hollow Knight: Silksong.

On April 2, I learned that Devolver Digital would produce a physical Definitive Edition of Cult of the Lamb, with the full base game along with all DLC and updates on the cartridge/disc.

On February 12 at State of Play, Konami announced Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, the first new game in the series since 2014 (excluding Haunted Castle Revisited).
