It's been too long since we had a new Spyro. I'm super hyped for this.

Spyro, Rayman, and Fox McCloud are all back. It's the 90s mascot era over again.
Seriously though, it's nice that these games are coming back after so long, and after Crash 4 and the Spyro Reignited remakes I think Toys for Bob have the chops to make this a worthy entry.

Dang! It’s amazing how many views the Spyro reveal has already racked up: 5M in just over 24hr. I knew there demand for a new Spyro was high, but not this high!! Wow.
Also, here are two interviews worth checking out. Wasn’t too big of a fan of the IGN interview, but it’s a good listen in any case.

Being able to freely fly anywhere will be tricky to get right in terms of still making the level design feel fun and meaningful, but if they can pull it off, I can see how it could feel amazing.
It's also good to hear that they want to make multiple games going forwards; I'll certainly be doing my part to support this one so we get more, as someone who really missed Spyro.
Crash NSane Trilogy - 20m (June 2024)
Crash 4 - 5m (April 2024)
Spyro Reignited Trilogy - 10m (September 2023)
It's going to be interesting to see how it does. Spyro is less popular than Crash overall and Crash 4 saw a massive decline compared to the remake trilogy. The crash remake must be the second best selling 3d platformer of all time.
Hopefully Spyro is really good and also gets the sales.

I suspect Spyro will fair better.
Crash's gameplay aged worse (is more niche) than Spyro's. Spyro is more open world and exploratory. By all means though 5m for a 2.5D platformer is great. A decline is to be expected when nostalgia is no longer driving the sales, but I suspect if Spyro is genuinely ambitious it could come close to matching the trilogy but anything more than 4m should be considered a success though.
Now that the IP is owned by MS and not Activision, I do think we will see some more reasonable expectations.

Yeah I loved Crash 4 personally, but their decision to stick with the series' brutal difficulty did make it a tough sell to modern audiences, outside of those who grew up with the originals. And even then, 5m isn't bad by any means.
Spyro should be more accessible to mainstream audiences as its traditionally been a lot easier and its more open-ended design is more in keeping with modern tastes.

I'm just gonna use this thread for all my Skylanders whining. Man do I want to see this franchise come back some day!! :( Toys for Bob is very passionate about the franchise—I mean, their name is "Toys 4 Bob" for a reason (Skylanders was the first game they ever produced)—and I can only hope that now they are indie, maybe Activision would be open to letting them run wild with the IP.

The only Skylanders I played any of was Swap Force and it seemed decent enough. I do wish if they bring it back though they make the physical figures optional. I don't really want to have a massive box full of figures again lol.
