It's going to be interesting to see how it does. Spyro is less popular than Crash overall and Crash 4 saw a massive decline compared to the remake trilogy. The crash remake must be the second best selling 3d platformer of all time.

Hopefully Spyro is really good and also gets the sales.

I suspect Spyro will fair better. 

Crash's gameplay aged worse (is more niche) than Spyro's. Spyro  is more open world and exploratory. By all means though 5m for a 2.5D platformer is great. A decline is to be expected when nostalgia is no longer driving the sales, but I suspect if Spyro is genuinely ambitious it could come close to matching the trilogy but anything more than 4m should be considered a success though. 

Now that the IP is owned by MS and not Activision, I do think we will see some more reasonable expectations.
