Forums - Gaming - Most Tragic Cancellations/Indefinite Postponements

As a fan of original Prey, I can't say I really sympathize with Prey 2 being cancelled - I remember back in the day when first footage released I thought "what's this got to do with Prey?". Truth be told, Prey that did release in 2017 had noting to do with original Prey as well (and would be much better off if it was called something else), but it was great FPS/Immersive sim combo.

For me it's Van Buren (what was to be Interplay's Fallout 3) that was most painful, since Bethesda got their hands on Fallout, and they just don't care to respect original design vision for that IP.

Other than that, Omikron 2: Karma (sequel to Omikron: Nomad Soul), KOTOR3 and Sleeping Dogs 2.

Thrill Kill on PSone, even had the disc cover from PSM magazine. We did eventually get WuTang, which was solid, and I know Thrill Kill would have been an average at best fighter.

Propeller Arena on Dreamcast. Made by AM2 and supposedly really really good. Canceled because of 9/11. You can play it with a ROM. Maybe I’ll do that one day.

Prey 2
Titanfall 3 or whatever Respawn was working on
StarCraft Ghost

Probably forgetting some others

Final Fantasy Versus XIII

From everything I’ve heard about the original concept sounded better than FFXV. I really wish we could’ve seen Nomura’s full vision all the way through. (Still hoping one day - wishful thinking) Also Noctis in Versus XIII looked cooler than in XV.

Arena is pretty fun but IMO nothing to get too hyped over unless a sentimental attachment.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Not sure there was ever gameplay footage, but Donkey Kong Racing could have been fun.

I also remember a game called Asylum for GCN, and Grinder for the Wii, that I was interested in, Neither came to fruition

Aw man this takes me back; The Grinder was being hyped up back around when I first joined the online gaming community back in 2009, I was so pumped for it.

In light of High Voltage's other games it probably would have been just decent, but still, hardly anybody else was really doing this sort of thing on Wii so it had a certain novelty.

I mean, it never got an actual announcement... but Golden Sun Dark Dawn (2010) ended with a huge cliffhanger and we are still waiting for a sequel that continues the story.

For games that actually got cancelled, ZombiU 2. The first one is still one of my favourite games on the Wii U and one of the most interesting survival horror games around. The sequel had potential to improve or fix the rougher edges (better story, more melee options and more fleshed put melee combat, better visuals, etc) while mantaining everything that made the game great. Sadly, Wii U flopped, the game got canned and with the second screen dying with the Wii U, there's no hope for it.

Fuck, I think I'll start a new playthrough of both Dark Dawn and ZombiU.

It was dispapointing to see scalebound get canceleld

I'll second both the disappointment for ZombiiU 2 and the love for the first game.  Managing your inventory on the second screen to the detriment of being able to see what was happening around your character on the main screen was a brilliant use of the second screen in my opinion.  I got close a couple times but never managed to get my original character to the chopper.  For my half a dozen play throughs I always died at least once.

Starcraft Ghost looked cool, was sad to see it get canned.

Probably doesn't count but From turning down BB remaster is just tragic.
