Forums - Microsoft - Which do you consider more successful, OG Xbox or Xbox Series, and why?

Which do you consider more successful?

Original Xbox 36 87.80%

Xbox Series 5 12.20%

Total:41

Success is always respective to goals and expectations... So OG Xbox.

It birthed the brand, set the pace for the next generation of online and FPS', introduced WRPGs onto console and featured a really unique library,

Financially Series Systems are obviously bigger but OG Xbox was way closer to achieving its goals whereas the Series Systems have signalled the end of Xbox. The crazy year on year declines speak for itself.

Nah, it killed in voting because most people never owned both consoles.  If most people that voted owned both and actually played both a fair amount the Series would have won easily because it's a better console no matter how you look at it.  Better sales, better hardware, better software, better controller, better UI, better nongaming capabilities etc. etc.

Disagree.  It is a good console for people who only own xbox.  Dual console owners, which many of us are, xbox series falls.  It has very few exclusives that are worth it.  Anybody with a PC, well xbox has no exclusives.  Xbox used to offer something that couldn't be found elsewhere, but not anymore.  It is a standard run of the mill console.  I have considered buying a series but haven't because I already have access to everything it offers..

I post a picture proving he is wrong. Blowing his ass out and still holds onto that idiotic narrative. Not even worth responding to him anymore. Ignore him. He doesn't want a discussion just stupidly hold onto a bad narrative.

Nah, just a build on my original point, the OG xbox had a brand identity, today that really has been lost.  I think that is why the OG killed it in voting.

Technically this isn't about which is the better console though, but rather which was more successful.

Not necessarily the same thing, for example I think the OG Xbox was a better console than the PS2 but I'd be crazy to claim it was a more successful one.

OG Xbox was a better console hardware wise then the PS2 but the PS2 had a vastly superior software lineup.  The Series on the other had is vastly superior to the OG Xbox in every way no matter how you look at it.  So again, the people that voted for the OG Xbox have no clue what they are talking about.

You seem to be confusing preference for facts. You may see the Series as the better console, but that's your preference, not a fact.

No that is a fact no matter how you look at it.  It's sold more, its vastly superior hardware, has a vastly superior software lineup even without backwards compatibility, better controller, better no gaming feature and I could go on and on.  Just because the people that voted for the OG Xbox do not have a clue what they are talking about does not negate the fact that the Series is a vastly superior console then the OG Xbox no matter how you look at it.

The quality of a software lineup, a controller, or the value of non-gaming systems are not objective matters, as they are determined by indivdual perception; how much a person enjoys a game or a controller, how much value they place on non-gaming functions.

If the Series was really just undeniably better, then it would be winning the poll. "Nobody but me knows what they're talking about" is a nonsense excuse.

Chris is either extremely dense or trolling at this point.
