Wonder if they will have a 1080p 120 fps mode? Doubt it, prime 4 was probably a one off, but something like SF is built for 120 fps.

For Starfox?

Possibly, but hitting 120fps on Switch 2 would mean the game would need be relatively simple, and it might limit their ability to produce spectacle.

On the other hand, for an arcade shooter, the added fluidity could be glorious.

Yeah, star fox.  I think unlikely, but if it is old-school rail shooter, maybe.  Being a rail shooter should reduce capacity constraints, a lot.

If it is indeed a rail shooter like the SNES/64 games then I can see 120fps being on the table. At the same time though, they may want to cap at 60fps so they can dedicate more power to great graphics and spectacle, like those games provided back in their day.

So far, of Nintendo's first party titles, only Prime 4 has supported 120fps, with the rest being 60fps. I'm not super sensitive to the difference so it doesn't reallty bother me.

I'm so starved for a good Star Fox that is free of controversial/questionable gimmicks after 30 years that I won't complain one bit if we get a banger on the level of SF64 that's capped at 60 fps. The first game on SNES was practically a slide show, but no one complained.

Fully agreed.  120 fps is a wish, not even remotely a must.

I kinda want Ron Wasserman to do the music for a new Star Fox.
