150 hours for BOTW is probably pushing it, lol. Like that's if you waste an ungodly amount of time in the game, 50 hours is generally enough to see most of what needs to be seen/done in BOTW and beat the game pretty soundly.

I was going off of howlongtobeat.com

Ocarina of Time

Main Story-27 hours

Completion-37.5 hours

Majora’s Mask

Main Story-21.5 hours

Completion-32.5 hours

Wind Waker

Main Story-29 hours

Completion-59.5 hours

Twilight Princess

Main Story-37 hours

Completion-55 hours

Skyward Sword

Main Story-38 hours

Completion-58 hours

Breath of the Wild

Main Story-50.5 hours

Completion-193 hours

Tears of the Kindgom

Main Story-59 hours

Completion-248 hours

My point is that BotW/ToTK significantly added how much there is to do in the game outside of the main story.

Pre-BotW, the series was a 30-40 hour main story with an extra 15-20 hours if you wanted to do everything.

BotW/TotK turned that into a 50-60 hour main story with an extra 100+ hours if you wanted to do everything.

I expect a hypothetical remake to modernize and expand but still follow the same basic structure so a 30-40 hour main story and 50-60 hours to do everything.

No doubt whatsoever that Botw massively bigger than any zelda before.

50 hours for botw is absolutely rushing it.  A reasonable pace would still be 80 to 100 hours.  I've beaten it 3 times.  Tears is just as big.

I play games slowly, some really slowly because I like to enjoy them as much as I feel like.

I have 187 hours in BotW and 193 hours in TotK, beatean BotW but still not close to beat TotK (I still have 2 or 3 parts of the map not lighten up as it's how I like to play those games (same for Genshin when new maps get released).

It's absolutely a lot more than 50 hours lol.

100 hours in any one game is bonkers to me, I mean maybe if I had the free time I did at 13 years old or something, but at 100+ hours the game better pay me to play it by the hour at that point, lol.

The way games are made today you can pad out a OoT remake game to be 50-60 plus hours but it's generally just mind numbing content slop. I don't think there's a game I've aimed to complete that I haven't been able to do with in 80 hours or less and even that was ages ago.

I think I put like 80 hours in BotW and was nowhere close to doing everything.

Part of the reason I’m so hopeful for this remake is that Zelda was always one of my favorite series and I just don’t have the time for these massive games anymore.

I know open world games that have 100+ hours of content and unlimited possibilities are massively popular and BotW/TotK are by far the most successful Zelda titles so they would be stupid not to continue with the new format but I personally prefer the length of the previous titles.

So, basically:

- Ocarina Remake
- New Star Fox
- New Fire Emblem
- Splatoon Raiders
- Duskbloods
- Rhythm Heaven
- Lots of 3rd Party games

Not a bad line up at all. I wouldn't say it's a killer year, but it's far from a weak one. This should be enough to secure 18m+ units for the year.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Video Game Chronicle has corroborated Nate's claims, interestingly

I kinda feel like Nintendo deserves this for being so stupidly secretive lately. If you won't announce your plans, it's your own fault when somebody else does it for you.

Probably they wanted to focus the first half of the year on the Mario Galaxy movie, and then in the summer-time ish show the first trailer for the Zelda movie (starting the marketing campaign for that) to go with the Zelda: OoT Remake unveil.

But it looks like (as with the Switch 2 system reveal itself) they got upended again by waiting too long.

I'm guessing the Star Fox reveal was supposed to go -- Mario Galaxy movie release, does big business, people love Fox in the movie, and bam they announce Star Fox for Switch 2, but Nate also screwed them on that too, lol. I think they're trying to focus their marketing reveals around movie marketing schedules as much as game release schedules and it basically bit them in the ass.

1) Predict Ocarina Remake to be as ambitious as BotW/TotK

2) Falsely insist BotW/TotK are 50 hours

3) Declare victory against "tons of people" who insisted Ocarina Remake couldn't be 50 hours

4) Win another imaginary battle

Took me 90 hours to wrap up my time with BOTW, about 75 for TOTK.
They're definitely a lot longer than prior games, but that kinda comes with the territory for an open world game where they're a lot more distractions and side content.
