@Chrkeller, I love ya (as a user on VGChartz), but please stop derailing this thread. If you want to argue, take it to PM.

Fair.  Back on topic.  If true, I still will be shocked if it is a complete re-imagining.

My guess is something like WWHD, Thousand Door or RE4.  Which has me super excited.  Ocarina with modern graphics, 60 fps, improved battle system and QoL would be day 1.  Frankly I always wanted Nintendo to buy Blue Point and go to town on their classics.

Edit

Fox being in the new movie, feels like it confirms a game is coming.  Just not sure if it will be 64 or adventures like.

Nope.  Made up nonsense.  After the Wii-U, everyone and their grandma thought Nintendo should go to simple nomenclature.

Nope.  Mario Kart 8 sold 80,000,000, Odyssey sold 30,000,000, everyone thought MK made sense.

Must be nice making up arguments and claiming victory against imaginary opponents.  Cheers mate.

*my theory is in primary school all the cool kids had Genesis and you have a weird chip on your shoulder about Nintendo as a result*

No, Soundwave is right that a lot of people on here were arguing about name/launch titles/price/specs. Things like

”Nintendo has never had a 2 for a system name.” (I personally thought Super Switch)

”Mario Kart is a game you buy when you already have the system, it’s not a system seller itself.”

Anything over $400 is suicide.”

”Nintendo always releases weak hardware, it won’t be able to run PS5/XBSX ports.”

Yes, these were common arguments on this site. Just because he’s not willing to go through dozens of threads and hundreds of posts to prove doesn’t mean he’s wrong.

Now obviously this doesn’t mean everyone was making these arguments. A lot of people were also arguing in favor of 2/MK launch/$400+/powerful.

I don't think I've seem a single people say this.

As far as I remember $400 was the sweet spot most people were expecting, and when $450 was revealed hardly anyone thought it was suicide, just that it could have been $400 instead.

Mario Kart World being $80 was mostly what people criticized a lot, including me.

I was also not believing NS2 would be the name, but I never doubted it could happen. And when it was announced to be the case I thought it was a good thing it did, it makes it very clear what it is, like we have with Playstation.

Soundwave has been fighting battles against himself over the NS2 for some time now, there was a thread completely derailled by it not too long ago, it looks a lot like this one right now actually, I left a great strawberry shortcake recipe posted there tho.

I think a OoT Remake (new graphics, QoL) makes sense.  I don't think a BotW imagining makes sense.  Let us be careful here and use the right terms.  As previously mentioned, I could see a RE4 Remake, not a FF7 Remake.  Many people are expecting an Ocarina meets BotW, that I don't see happening.

If it happens, I think it will stay damn close to the original source material, like RE4 did.

I think if the rumor is true then it will be something in between, like a bridge between the old and new style.

I’m not expecting them to turn the ~30 hour OoT into a massive 150-200 hour game like BotW/TotK but I’m also not expecting them to just toss a coat of HD paint on the original and call it a day.

-Use the BotW/TotK engine/assets

-Modernize the controls/camera

-Increase the number of side quests

-Add some of the newer features like endurance/weapon durability/crafting/foraging

But the story, characters, setting, structure all remain largely the same

So yeah, something like the Resident Evil remakes.

Well there are two main things.

1) link to evidence?

2) if one person says something stupid, the other 20 don't, it is disingenuous to claim it was a common position

I would love to see actual evidence that MK, which outsells 3D Mario isnt a system seller.  Same with all those people who said 2 didnt make sense.

Claims require evidence.  Pretty simple.  So provide or hush.  Especially if oh so many people said these things.  If all these people said these things, then there should be evidence.

1. I don’t have the willpower to look through old threads/posts like I did when I was more active on this site, all I can say is I remember seeing them just like Soundwave does.

2. Good point, it could certainly be a case of the few ridiculous statements standing out to Soundwave and I while the more abundant, rational posts are less memorable.

I was looking for it on my post history and I think the thread might have been closed, as I couldn't find it there.

But here it goes.

Starfox SNES and N64 were my childhood, so a new entry that's actually good would be a dream come true for me.

I hope Splatoon Raiders does in fact come out this summer too, as I did quite enjoy the solo portions of prior games and would love a meatier, more fleshed out take. With it not having a release year I was worried it wasn't coming til 2027.

Duskbloods isn't my thing, but still, maybe it can attract a few Fromsoft fans to the console.

I used to have the entirety of Star Fox 64's voice lines memorized. I used to crack up one of my best friends by just dropping one of them at random. "Cocky little freaks!" "Can't let you do that Star Fox."  "UNCLE ANDROSSSS!!!"

At this point the next person who says "Nintendo won't do XYZ because they haven't in the past", you might as well just put money down on the opposite option being true, you'd probably have a shit ton of money. That crowd still is completely clueless and almost everything that talk about ends up being wrong because they're too dense to understand the management team is completely different today from 10 years ago. They're stuck 10 years in the past, I think once in a while the wheels kind of turn in their head like "wait a second this is a little odd for Nintendo ..." but then they shrug it off and go right back to where they were before, lol.

It's kind of funny. It's totally that Seymour Skinner meme in real life.

"Nintendo can't possibly reveal in January and release the same year! It's against the rules!" was another classic that was talked to death here.

Honestly leakers have been far more accurate on Switch 2 news/rumors/reports than the "Nintendo only does XYZ because remember what happened with Nintendo system from 15 years ago" crowd. You'd be far better off listening to leakers like Nate even if they get the odd thing wrong because at least they also get some things correct, whereas the "Nintendo expert who's still living in 2014" crowd gets virtually every single thing wrong.
