So realistically, not being a smart ***, if the Helix really is 48 gb per rumors, what price are we expecting?

Up to 2000$; I expect more options though like SDD sizes and possible a Series XL.

I do wonder if Microsoft will go with 2 different SKUs again. Except this time the cheaper SKU is more like a PS6 in power rather than being a decent amount weaker. So we have a $600-$800 SKU that is similar to PS6 or a bit more powerful than the more powerful SKU at $1,200+.

I expect:

PS6 handheld (Vita TV) = $500
PS6 handheld = $600
PS6 standard (digital) = $700-$800.
Helix S = $1000 (slightly weaker than PS6)
Helix X = $1400 (moderately more powerful than PS6)

Regardless of the accuracy of this rumour I do expect a price increase like this to happen in early 2027 at the latest. Combine that with a Switch 2 price increase within the next year and console sales are gonna be in the toilet by Spring next year. At those prices the PS5 Pro would actually be better value and if it does get that expensive you'd be looking at potentially a 1k PS6 if things don't improve so RAM prices better fall a lot by late 2027-2028.

Of course ps6 will be cheaper than new price of pro.

Based on what? The PS5 cost more than the PS4 Pro and the PS6 should have more RAM than the PS5 Pro so if things don't improve enough by the time it launches it being even more expensive is a given.

Agreed.  Unless pricing gets under control soon, I don't see how the ps6 will be cheaper than the Pro.  It will have more ram, more expensive gpu and should have more storage.  Nothing about the ps6 should be cheaper.

The only things I can see making a difference is if things don't improve enough is Sony being willing to have a worse margin on the PS6 since they'll wanna avoid it taking forever for it to get a big install base and them cheaping out on storage and only giving it 1TB to keep costs down. Even then though I really don't see it being cheaper than whatever the PS5 Pro costs by then due to having more RAM, faster RAM, a better GPU and much better CPU.

I'm genuinely morbidly curious to see where Helix and PS6 land price wise, in a world where a base current gen console is $650 and a Pro is $900.

Surely there comes a point where you're locking out so much of your audience that you may as well just take a big loss to ensure people can actually buy your product.

My guess at the moment, based on SNY saying not so long ago that they had RAM secured for at least a year so price increases shouldn't be a worry for quite a while, along with just how much the prices increased and so soon, is that SNY is actually doing 1 of 2 things.

1. Extending the gen to 2030 ish and making room for a cheaper hardware tier, for a 26/27 PS5 hybrid, at $399-$499.
or
2. Sacrificing some late gen PS5 sales to get a better idea of how much they can, or should, price the 27/28 PS6 hybrid and console. ($499 & $749 ?)

PS1   - ! - We must build a console that can alert our enemies.

PS2  - @- We must build a console that offers online living room gaming.

PS3   - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.

PS4   - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.

PRO  -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.

PS5   - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.

PRO  -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.

That's what no real competition is doing.

Sony still has the top seller console in the market, so obviously they increase price.

Saw this posted on a different forum and couldn't help buy laugh/cry (lol). Remember these days:

The GameCube was younger than the PS5/XBS is now at this point too, lmao (this would be 2006 I believe before the Wii launched).

They don't really do stage events anymore. Will they even show the PS6 (console) price next gen during the official online reveal?

Seems to me that they want to start covering the costs of RAM supply after the allotment they got. This is a long term problem that may only get worse.
