Have yet to buy a switch 2. If they release a lite version it will probably be the model I buy. So if/when I have one it will be 100% handheld.

When the switch was new I played it 50/50 docked and handheld, but for the last couple of years i have only used it in handheld. Even if i think the OLED model is too heavy for a comfortable portable experience the dock is only another charger.

Mostly docked. Probably 80/20 split for me, outside of holidays at least. But I did take it with me on our three week trip to Africa last year and I expect portable usage to increase over time. So far, my most played game is Mario Kart, which is obviously perfect for couch multiplayer; and I'm currently playing Resident Evil 9 which was tailor made for docked mode. Stuff like Animal Crossing, Splatoon, Pokémon lends itself more to portable play I think.

Edit: I really think Nintendo should consider releasing a "Switch 2 docked" version that's more powerful than the portable version and relatively cheap to buy. And a Switch 2 Lite, as well. Give people options.

Entirely docked, at the moment.

So as of this post, almost 80% of folks are using it all or mostly docked; not what I expected when I made the thread.

I guess the docked experience is the biggest improvement over Switch 1, where you often saw quite low resolutions on the big screen in demanding games, but without DLSS to save the day. Switch 2 definitely feels like a more viable "home console" platform, to me anyway, and I say that as someone who played Switch 1 almost entirely docked; I did enjoy it that way, but the limitations were often quite noticeable, whereas Switch 2 provides a much superior big screen experience.

I live with my parents at the moment so I prefer to just grab the Switch and go to my room. Unfortunately the Switch 2 is rather heavy and has no grips so it’s not ideal for portable play but them’s the breaks.

90-10 docked.

It's my main home console. The 10% is when I take it with me for long appointments getting my car serviced, for example. When I'm flying, I take my Switch 2 with me and play it at the airport and during the flight, as well as during trips when I know I will have a lot of downtime. With that said, even though I mostly keep it docked, I love the fact that it's portable and I can take it with me and play it on the go. I wouldn't give up that functionality for anything. Switch portability helped me keep my sanity when I was flying back and forth helping my sister with my parents, and the Switch 2 was a godsend flying to and from Japan.

70-30 portable. Playing it mainly while hanging around with family or in bed
