[Weekly Software & Hardware Sales] "Pokoa Pokemon" tops the charts with over 2.2 million units sold worldwide! "Resident Evil Requiem" also performs well, with additional DLC information released [March 2-8]

Famitsu's sales rankings. This time, we bring you a summary of estimated weekly sales figures for game software and hardware from March 2nd to March 8th, 2026 in Japan.

Ditto transforms into a human and builds a new life with Pokémon. It is the Pokémon series first slow-life sandbox game and (According to the manufacturer) has exceeded worldwide sales of 2.2 million units within four days of its release. Sales in Japan including the download version also exceeded 1 million units, making it a spectacular start at the top of the charts.

Coming in second and fifth place are last week's top-ranked game Resident Evil: Requiem. Information has also been released about the implementation of a photo mode, the addition of mini-games and the development of DLC for additional story content, so it seems likely that sales will continue to grow.

From third place onwards there are a number of titles that are regulars in the top 10, such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, both the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch versions ranked in the top 10.

So almost a 50% digital ratio for Pokemon. Encouraged by undersupply but still extremely note worthy, especially with Nintendo audiences typically leaning more physical I Wouldn't be surprised if many more games have a similar ratio, particularly on Playstation where a fair percentage of consoles don't have a disc drive to begin with.

Nice Switch 2 sales! The power of Pokémon.

Signature goes here!

I'm impressed how the Switch 1 has been managing to hold these 20k+ numbers for weeks now

Wtf 😂😂😂 Even original ns had supply issues? they restocked it.
NS is here to stay, looking forward to 2026-27 forecast.
If only Nintendo hadn't to increase its price in the USA.
NS still above 20k.
It will hang around there.

Nintendo really planned it out, Pokopia being a hit together with the Mario Galaxy movie will lead to a ton of mindshare for Nintendo the first half of the year, they really only have to deliver a solid general direct to see strong momentum all year.

Ps5 slight sales hike, it's a decent baseline.
In my opinion, matching the sales of Ps4 or approaching them is a feat.

If I remember right it was released on a game key card, which probably encouraged people to buy the digital copy.

I won’t be able to find that data now, but new AAA games on PS5 are majority physical while the back catalog is majority digital.

Switch is the console with highest share physical and Japan the region with highest share physical, I believe. So these numbers likely do indicate significant supply constraints for Pokopia.
