And to think this all could have been avoided if back in 1953 the Eisenhower administration and Churchill government told the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company to go pound sand. Instead they chose to stage a coup to protect the company's profits, deposing Iran's democratically-elected government and installing the Shah as absolute ruler, who went on terrorize the country for the next 26 years. Blowback's a bitch, ain't it?
