Forums - Gaming - Sony Considering a ps6 Delay

Sony reportedly mulling PS6 delay while Nintendo eyes Switch 2 price hike as AI-driven RAM shortages continue | Eurogamer.net

Doesn't shock me, a delay seems inevitable, given prices.  The ram in my rig was $130 when I built it 3 years ago, easily $500 now.  With the ps6 needing, for a good jump, 30+ gb...  I don't see a ps6 being price friendly anytime soon.  Rumor has it the S2 will have a price hike as well.  Never thought I would see the day when my computer increases in value over time.

There are also rumours the ps6 will be able to play all previous ps systems from dics with a ai emulator.

I would spend even a 1000bucks if thats true

Good, give the PS5 more time, make NS2 fight harder

Price aside, I don't think the market is ready for it anyway.

Focus on a portable which soft launches some of PS6 features

2026 feels like what 2018 was for the PS4. Things are finally well oiled and quality, anticipated software is flooding in. 2028 should be the earliest they'd consider releasing.

The graphics are allready ok this gen, i don't mind to wait 1-2 more years for new gen.
I will probably keep next gen my 1440p pc monitor to avoid buying a very expensive gpu on pc.
4k pc gaming will be transfered in gen 11 period. :D

I’m not getting my hopes up, but if Sony pulled something like this, that would be awesome! Unfortunately for me, I only own PS4/PS5 games, so it’d make no difference for me. But for those who do own all generations of games, then I’m happy for you.

OT: I would sure hope so lol. Thinking about PS6 within the next 24m is a tough pill the swallow, especially seeing how volatile the industry is at the moment.

The PS3 felt ancient in 2012, the PS4 didn't age quite as badly but still felt like an old device with it's 30fps and HDD loading times.

PS5 still gives a good gaming experience in modern titles, don't see a need to launch a PS6 next year.

Speaking of rising prices the RTX 5060 Ti 16gb I bought for £400 near it's launch now costs £520 on the same site. Not as extreme as DDR5 kits but GPU prices are taking a hit

There is no reason to launch a PS6 in November 2027 with the prices of PS5 hardware and the lengthy cross-gen period. November 2028 should be the earliest launch month. I think 2030 is pushing it, but November 2029 could work out as well.

I'm hearing the PS6 could be a portable-console hybrid like the Switch 2...

The rumour is two systems. Codename Canis that is a handheld/hybrid and Orion which is the home console.

Canis: 16 CU's RDNA5, 24GB Ram, 4x Zen6c and 2x Zen6 LP cores.

Orion: 52 CU's RDNA5, 30GB Ram, 7x Zen6c cores and 2x Zen6 LP cores.
