Forums - Gaming - Man, I just wanna enjoy my video games in peace

PC crowd can be awful sometimes. I remember when Dead Space Remake launched, I read nonstop about how poor the performance was, like stuttering and frame drops. I played it on a 4070 and rarely had any issues. I kept wondering what everyone was seeing that I was not. Oblivion, which wasn't optimized, still was more than playable. I get annoyed when people act like a stutter every 2 hours means unplayable and is a massive issue.

When these opinions come from a person who has not as much as watched gameplay nor played the game for themself, who have simply heard things about how *insert degrading claim* this gaming product/company is, and go off on a hotheaded campaign to spread this opinion to the masses… these are the problematic people.

IDC if you found Mario Galaxy overly linear, or if you think Mario 64 hasn’t aged gracefully; I do care when you’re only contribution to internet discourse is based according to what negative talking points users on the internet have told you. And especially when you try to convince others how they should dislike the game too, or that it’s an “objective” flaw and not merely personal taste.

No one forces you to read or listen to anyone else's comments. Just live your life man...

Nobody forces you, but these things are designed to hijacking your dopamine system and interact as much as possible. Most people should cut back, but its not as simple as willpower.

I know what you mean. The political polarization has claimed every possible domain now, and every time something is released or even announced, the first thing will be to see if it passes the purity test of one side or another.
I guess it's kind of entertaining as well, it's content now, but it's also getting a little tiring at this point.
I can still enjoy the games I like though, that is not going to change even with all the hubbub around them.

That's why I like this site. It's far less political (at least outside politics specific threads) than other forums which lean very left/right.

Very true.  Some of them are really bad.  I posted literally "I don't like politics in my games" when Euro took a swing at Ark Raiders for AI.  I literally got a perma ban from Reset for and I quote "spreading alt right propaganda."

People are nuts anymore.

Yeah politics has gotten ridiculous, whether its Star Wars Outlaws being allegedly woke cos it has a female lead, or Stellar Blade being "misogynist/alt right" cos the main character is sexy, it's always some bullshit with almost every big release now. Some games do deserve it to be fair, but in most cases its just trolls looking for any excuse to dunk on something.

Not everything needs to be about team red vs team blue, but some people are so consumed by fanatical allegiance to their ideology that they see absolutely everything as a battleground where they must aggressively force their views on others. It sucks.

A really annoying part is just how much people like that have infested social media. A few years back you had the latter camp treating Hogwarts Legacy as some sort of purity test to an extreme degree that you had certain streamers getting outright harassed for playing it when no well adjusted person you'd see outside on the street going about their day would get upset if someone they knew played a popular video game. There thankfully hasn't yet been another case as extreme as that since then.

Its that damn phone.

Yeah that whole incident showed by toxic and frankly evil some people can be when they're convinced the on the side of good. Utterly deranged behaviour to bully others over a video game.

Thats the problem with social media nowadays. If you're impressionable grifters will convince you of the most ridiculous things. They make careers out of spreading misery. They had an entire hate campaign against Ghost of Yotei just for it to outpace Tsushima in sales then they downplayed it and moved on to the next game to be outraged over.
