The Subspace Emissary is the best thing that ever happened in the Super Smash Bros. series.

It pisses me off when I see people saying Brawl is the worst SSB game.

I'm certainly in the crowed of people that pisses you off.

Brawl is the best for a single player. It is good for 4+ players with items. It is the worst by far for 1 vs 1 or anything more competitive.

Blizzard always did make good cutscenes as mentioned in the thread. I especially like them from the first StarCraft. When starting a new mission the briefings was between the higher ups and focused on the political aspects while the cutscenes showed us the little guy out on the battlefield and I always liked that contrast.

I do not really remember a lot of good cutscenes from games. Few leave an impression that lasts. I always liked the intro and outro cut scenes in Zelda Links Awakening, but mostly because they was presented on the game boy and or not much more than a few pictures.
For some reason I also like in engine cut scenes to be less memorable than shifting style.

The best cutscenes are probably from companies like Blizzard and Bungie, who aren't necessarily known for the storytelling prowess.

Yeah Halo 2 anniversary had gorgeous cutscenes that dripped with nostalgia for those of us who played the original, though the story they tell is basic at best.

LEGO games have lots of fun, I recall I particularly liked PotC.

Giants: Citizen Kabuto is a pretty bad game, but the cutscenes were some of funniest I've seen. IMO just watch it all, it's not worth playing.

In my favorite series Wing Commander, the best are ones between Kilrathi emperor and prince Thrakhath in WC2 (and SO1&2 expansions) - due the dialogue. Also in WC3 (not generally that great in cutscenes) there's that one great moment between Hamill and McDowell: "...if you had the biggest gun in the universe?"

WC spinoff Privateer 2 has mostly poor script but so many great actors doing awesome performances that I've called it "the best movie I've played".

Mafia 1 was one of best storylines in anything I've played. Not necessarily visually impressive cutscenes but powerful.

Souls for boss introduction. Love them, especially Smough and Orstein. Souls boss intros induce fear immediately. Also really loved Velstadt. I remember seeing that hammer and being like "oh ****."

I'm embarrassed I forgot Brawl. Add it to my list.
