Choice games like Detroit and Life is Strange are visual novels, kinda. So I'd say I like them

My issue is more with the kind of story that are told on visual novels, most of them seems taylor made for japanese sensibilities which always look silly for me

No. I like regular novels. Adult fiction, to be precise. I'll read the occasional biography, though, if I'm interested in learning about someone.

In itself, I like most of the Visual Novels I read but some will confuse the Visual Novel sub-genre with Adventure games as a whole, which a lot of them knowadays have VN hybridization in their DNA.

A pure text-only VN can be immensely fun through it's means of clever story-telling while also using the visual aspects to magnify the readers impression on it.

Others can have interactive or limited interactive sections which can double as some kind puzzle pieces that needs solving to progress through it's stories.
Those are the ones I tend to usually prefer in general.

The Nonary Games (999, Virtues Last Reward, Zero Time Dilemma), Ace Attorney, AI The Sominum Files games, Ghost Trick, Hotel Rusk, etc ... are some of the best examples of these aspects put in use.

Very much so. A top notch one like Danganronpa 2 can be a genuinely incredible experience and I am interested in what the alternate route in 2x2 is gonna be like. It's been a while since I've played through a VN series though so Unimeko might be next for that.
