Forums - Sales - Famitsu Sales: Week 52, 2025 (Dec 22 - Dec 28)

I wonder if Famitsu will drop the PS4 from its tracking in 2026. 1000 units in one year is basically nothing.

I'm just rooting for Switch 1 to reach 37 mil. Maybe 37.5 if we're really lucky.

Most likely it has hit that milestone , famitsu doesn't track Mynintendo store sales, maybe amazon etc. Thus , we will soon see a 2m gap between vgchartz total sales numbers and shipments total as of 31th of December.

Sell-in tally is 37.7m as of September 30th.

Can Switch 1 beat PS5 in 2026 in japan?

It will be intersting to watch.

Nintendo switch with a weekly sales baseline of 14k (which isn't out of reach i feel), will sell 728.000 units...Half of what it sold in 2025 and PS5 can drop by 100k. That's not  a sharp drop, taking into account the contigence of price drop. I will be suprised if it would have a effect other than preventing a sharp drop.

What happened to the users who posted WoW sales data for NS1/NS2? Would be curious to see a comparison. I know NS2 is up 11% on NS1 for their first respective calendar years, but how do holidays compare?

Switch 2 did slightly worse than Switch 1 in its first holiday in Japan.

Weren’t these numbers adjusted? I thought Switch 1 never saw a 300k week. (Also, I see. Having that one less week certainly makes things a little challenging for Switch 2.)

I posted numbers before that were adjusted to better compare with it being a 53 week Vs 52 week year. Here are those numbers updated.

So because Week 52 2025 shares 3 days with Week 52 2017 and 4 days with Week 53 2017 I just compare it to the average of those two 2017 weeks.

I see. That’s good to know. Thank you for the data, Zippy. :)

For how strong Switch 2 had been all year (versus Switch 1 which saw a supply bottleneck burst wide open during the 2017 holiday season), it’s safe to say Nintendo has done a solid job maintaining wildfire demand in JP.

Now let’s see if they can do the same outside of JP. EU appears to be doing comparably well, US not so much based on November sata.

Fair, but would still be nice to see that extra mil on Famitsu. Maybe shipments can hit 39m then. 40 is the dream of course but probably a tad unrealistic.

Try out my free game on Steam

2025 OpenCritic Prediction Leagues

Switch 1 more than doubles PS5 for 2025, in its replacement year, going out like a champ.

GTA will have absolutely no impact on PS5 sales in Japan

I'm not sure about that. GTA 5 sold over 320 FW and over 1.8 million total on consoles in Japan, and even a if sales of GTA6 are down significantly from that game, that could make GTA6 one of the best FW's on the PS5 in the country (only 7 PS5 games have broken 100k FW).
