The Switch 1's first November in Europe was 360k so what do you mean it's selling like its an old system? It's selling like a new one and a relatively good new one at that since it's peak November should surpass the PS3 landing it at 6th.

I mean Switch 2 is selling less than 1/4th of PS5 during November in Europe, they are basically playing the same insignificant role in Europe as PS5 plays in Japan in terms of market share.

The Switch was getting destroyed by the PS4 in Europe for a while but its final sales total will only be a few million less so it's not like Japan even remotely. Now a notable part of it getting that close to the PS4 was the pandemic so I fully expect the Switch 2 to decline but it should still outsell the Wii here which is the 6th best selling console of all time in Europe so it'll do well here. Playstation is more popular than Nintendo in Europe but Nintendo still clearly has a major presence here so your consistent downplaying of that lately is getting really weird and with stuff like comparing Playstation vs Nintendo in Europe to Japan is reaching denying reality levels of absurd.

Launch aligned the PS5 is 4.5m behind the PS4 in Europe. It was able to close the gap by a little over 1m in November.

If December holds well for PS5 I'd be tempted to bring back the PS5 vs PS4 monthly comparison article and drop some other comparison that ain't happening (XS vs X1 or PS5+XS vs PS4+X1)

That gap closing a lot will make up for it potentially losing its lead in the US within the next several months or so. I'd keep the PS5+XS vs PS4+X1 comparison going for another year at least since assuming no more delays there will be the impact of GTA 6's release by the end of the year and it should be known by then if the PS6 is coming out in 2027 or not and if it's not it'll get more interesting since the gap should close a lot after next year if it's 2028.

Yeah all true. Only reason I've kept Xbox Series vs Xbox One is that it is the last Xbox dedicated comparison.

While I agree with most of your points, the difference between PS4 and Switch 1 in Europe is over 6.5M and the Switch won't sell that much more from here on out there. So over 6M is more than "a few million less" since one of your points is about downplaying I figured I would call that out so you don't downplay the overall numbers either.

It should also be noted that the Switch effectively enjoyed about two extra years of added hardware sales compared to PS4. PS4's production was capped soon after COVID, which started 2-3 years of production troubles for Sony, and boosted Nintendo's numbers.

Nintendo (post WiiDS) vs Sony isn't that close in Europe. But it's certainly nowhere near as bad as Japan lol. It's much closer to the US.

I mean Switch 1 shipments in Europe were already at just under 39.6m as of the end of September so the final gap is not gonna be over 6m and few is commonly used for 5 so this just feels like splitting hairs to me.

That is another factor yeah. With a full 8 years before the PS5 came out the gap would've been even bigger so there is a significant difference so to compare it to Japan it's like Japan in gens 6-7 where there's a clear leader but 2nd place is still extremely relevant.

Amazon Brasil sold at the very least 42K, very likely quite a lot more because it was marking 30K and 10K for a while during the sales period, which means it reached that and kept selling more for some days.

That's only for Amazon Brasil.

Kabum is also a store that sells a lot too (they usually joke to say how many PS5 they sold and least year Black Friday it was "59 Eiffel Towers of PS5", which leads to a math for around 45K PS5 sold there last year, and this year discounts were a lot better.

There is also Mercado Livre selling a lot of PS5s (it was there that I bought mine years ago). And other big and popular stores like Magazine Luiza (the onwers of Kabum), Americanas, Ponto Frio etc.

I can't see how the PS5 sold less than 100K here in Brazil if Kabum alone had at least the same sales from 2024, which are likely higher this year IMO.

So Brazil is over 60% from the Americas - USA sales?

Here are the Amazon prints I took myself during the Black Friday weekeed (Brazillian Portuguese it's pretty easy to see the sales numbers):

You're right. PS5 had great discounts and a bundle that includes GT7 + Astro bot in Brazil and Mexico.

Unlike NA, PS5 definitely sold better than it did last year in those two regions.

@trunkswd did you consider this for your Americas estimates?

PS5's record: 2.07 million.
Wii + PS3 + X360 records combined: 2.43 million.

Not to mention the record was made in its 6th* November. Mindblowing if accurate.

And if GTA 6 does come next year, it might sell even more during it's 6th November... (I personally believe it'll be pushed to 2027 tho).

Yeah that'll depend on its price. Next November will be its 7th btw! I made a mistake.
