Forums - Gaming - Saber's Mad Head Studios working on KOTOR 1 remake. KOTOR 2 remake also planned

Stephen Totilo with GameFile revealed legal documents that Saber is working on the KOTOR 1 remake. Which we already knew, but it's been revealed that it's one of Saber's subsidiary studios, Mad Head.

Which would explain this placement on Mad Head's website.

There was a tease that a Star Wars game would be revealed soon "the old republic" in the name.

Wonder if it will finally get shown off at TGA on Thursday!

There's also news that Disney wants to remake KOTOR 2 as well, including all the cut content from the original release. I feel like we need to see the first game still before greenlighting the second lol, but, we shall see how it goes.

Anything could change at this point. If the KOTOR remake doesn't get cancelled, I'm expecting Holiday 2027 at the earliest. But likely after that. I'm not hopeful a KOTOR II Remake will happen.

These would actually make me buy stuff. If they are real. Seeing is believing.

It's one of those games that I have a healthy amount of skepticism for, but am hoping for the best. A good number of games in that category.

2025 OpenCritic Prediction Leagues

I only played Kotor 2 for the first time a couple of years ago and it's very clear that it was rushed and they left some things not really finished so hopefully the remake can fix it a bit.

Kotor remake was confirmed to still be in development back in march so it'll be nice if we finally see something at the TGA's and I hope they do the game justice. They might announce Kotor 2 is coming at the same time.

The development was moved from Aspyr to Saber in August 2022, possibly restarted from scratch, but that means this version has been in development over 3 years now.
