From what I've previously heard and seen, it does seem to be the case. It could be re-opening that door to The Old Republic Era existing in canon once again. The difference this time being that maybe certain backstories will be altered that precede KOTOR (Exar Kun lore, the different Darths on Korriban, & so on). It'll be interesting to see which things are omitted or tweaked - should this actually release.
