According to GFK the actual numbers for this week are:
- PS5: 46k
- Nintendo Switch 2 9k.
Numbers should be way higher for both on BF week.

Exactly talking about Europe like we are all like this too. In France, Nintendo is more popular than Playstation. PS4 is at 6,5M and Switch 1 is at 8,5 million. Nintendo is very healthy in Europe.
And I'm sorry but Switch 1 being at 40M in Europe is very good, it is just 5 million units behind the PS4 and even if it will not close the gap, it's still impressive knowing that its coming from the Wii U.
So YES PlayStation is a bit more popular than Nintendo in Europe, but it's still selling really good.

It's not "Just a bit" though is it. No one here is being negative about the Switch 2, but we are being realistic. Most of us here are Nintendo fans, but to try to paint a picture that in Europe Nintendo is only one notch below Sony is simply untrue. PlayStation is utterly dominant in Europe. Like Nintendo is in Japan. |
And that is just for this month where the PS5 is sold at 349 euros -449 euros so yeah that's just because there is deals. You're not making a point, Nintendo never bring down the prices like Sony does. The PS5 is older and well established so these numbers are really normal + deals

You need a bigger picture than a single month in the launch year when comparing sales. If you want to make fair assesment this is the picture you're looking for:

Their sales gap of both is rather small in Europe, it's more similar to their difference in sales in USA, where Nintendo historically sells slightly better than Sony
The situation in Japan is a different story
The last Sony was anywhere close to sell like Nintendo was during PSP days, and even then they were massively outsold by DS that sold a fair 60% more than PSP, and the Wii outsold PS3 by ~20%. Switch alone moved more Hardware by itself than all Sony's consoles and handhelds put together in the last ~17 years or so

Respectfully, since when did Sony have the third and forth best selling systems of all time in JP? This is not even a conversation worth having, especially when Switch 2 literally just **smashed** the record for best selling system at launch on Spain (and no, it is not even remotely hyperbolic to say “smashed”. It literally did double the previous record, which was PSP).

Oh damn, that's over 5:1
Link?
Wait... I'm confused. Are these figures for the first 3 weeks of November or just the 3rd week? :O

Interesting to know.
Interesting to note that big retailers in Germany are slashing off another 20€ across all PS5 models. So it's 329, 429 and 679 now.

PS4 Europe LT: 45.86m
Switch Europe LT: 39.24 million units
We are talking sales difference of just over 10%, this is in fact "Just a bit"
Meanwhile in Europe Wii sold more than PS3. DS was competitive with PS2 and obviously destroyed the PSP...
It's not this landslide some of you make it out to be.

I'm really getting tired of this constant whining about Nintendo "not being popular" in Europe. Nintendo is huge in Europe. Just because Playstation sells a bit better doesn't mean Nintendo doesn't sell well. People are talking as if Nintendo situation was like Xbox Series in Europe Older consoles selling better than newer consoles IS THE NORM. For gods sake. Switch 1 was comfortably outselling PS5 for good 2 years EVEN IN EUROPE. Only by 2023 PS5 started outselling Switch 1 |
This bit I don't agree with though. For a year? Sure, but beyond that its not really normal for competitive systems. The Switch outselling PS5 for 2 years was a combination of how insane its legs were (Switch) and PS5 being very supply constraint in a way we haven't seen ever really. It is in fact a rare occurence.
