PS5 outsold Xbox Series by a 58.5 ratio.
I didn't even know that it was possible.
I don't get why Sony doesn't just cut the price permanently everywhere, their advantage over Nintendo is that they get mostly digital sales and huge subscription money. Nintendo would need to recoup price cuts by selling physical games at retail, which nets low profit margins. While PS is just a digital powerhouse with enormous subscription and live service cash, Nintendo doesn't get any of that money and thus still has a business model where they need to make profits from the hardware. Nintendo is getting almost none of the benefits of the things that dominate gaming money today, 90%+ digital sales, huge accessory revenue, huge third party sales, huge subscription revenue, huge microtransactions revenue. Nintendo still gets most of their cash from people buying Nintendo first party games at retail, which means they can't do anything aggressive when it comes to price cuts, given Sony a gigantic advantage.

fantastic sales figures
for PlayStation 5.
This year, the PS5 could break a new record by the end of the year. But it doesn't surprise me. It was once again the best console of the year with the most games and the best exclusive titles. I'm extremely curious about the figures from Black Friday week.

Thats very impressive and a little bit crazy. xbox is really dead - but that doesn't matter, because all new xbox games will be released on PS5 (Microsoft has already confirmed this).

Guess what? Sony are continuing the Black Friday deals all the way until the 18th of December in the UK, so I'd imagine this date is the same across Europe!
A lot of Europe loves PlayStation, but this is impressive. Granted, part of it is the temporary discount for PS5.
Switch 2 is still new, so PS5 is the better buy right now from a library perspective excluding Nintendo games.
Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)
PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

The PS5 did 29k the week before BF in Spain for 2024. Couldn’t find any data for 2018. |
Thanks. This is a really great week for it in Spain for sure then. In Japan and the US it'll probably do decent to good but it looks like its holiday season in Europe is gonna be outright incredible this year.

Hopefully Nintendo made the correct judgement about sales potential in Europe and they haven't sent a lot of units to Europe this holiday season that will just sit and collect dust on European shelves, better to get more units into the hands of Japanese and Americans that are more likely to buy them.

I doubt they missed on the mark on that much. So far they seem to have gotten it right aside from Japan not having quite enough stock to meet demand yet.
Take it with a grain of salt, but a friend of mine who works are media markt says the ps5 is sold about 14x more then the switch2, and they are getting large amounts of stock every week
