I don't get why Sony doesn't just cut the price permanently everywhere, their advantage over Nintendo is that they get mostly digital sales and huge subscription money. Nintendo would need to recoup price cuts by selling physical games at retail, which nets low profit margins. While PS is just a digital powerhouse with enormous subscription and live service cash, Nintendo doesn't get any of that money and thus still has a business model where they need to make profits from the hardware. Nintendo is getting almost none of the benefits of the things that dominate gaming money today, 90%+ digital sales, huge accessory revenue, huge third party sales, huge subscription revenue, huge microtransactions revenue. Nintendo still gets most of their cash from people buying Nintendo first party games at retail, which means they can't do anything aggressive when it comes to price cuts, given Sony a gigantic advantage.
