Forums - Nintendo - Switch 2 Owners: What Changes Would You Make to the Console?

Multiple micro SD slots.
Games are too big. and these SD express cards are too expensive.
Lets say we had 4 micro sd slots. Let me either buy one 256gb at a time to get to 1tb.
Or either have 4x1tb and never think about storage again.
but at least 2 would be handy.

I would like two new variants.

1) Switch 2 TV.
Ditch:
- Display.
- Bluetooth.
- Dock.
- Joycons.
- Battery.
This would be able to hit a much lower price point. I.E. $300 USD?

2) Switch 2 OLED.
- Larger display. 7.9 > 9" would be great. I will call it: The big beautiful display.
- Larger battery. - Double the battery life would finally make it a competent handheld.
- OLED Panel. - No more shitty ghosting, washed out colours and crap contrast.
- VRR output. - Why they chose to omit this in the first place is absolutely stupid.

I doubt they will be able to have full 9", but yeah, something close to that is probably what we can expect form OLED version.

My bet is on Switch 2 DS - with SteamOS now being on ARM "natively", upcoming ARM SoCs that will support hardware TSO to better run x86/64 code, and popularity of clamshell design for actual handhelds that you can carry along with you everyday, it seems (t o me at least) there's too much pressure from the bottom for them not to do it.

Proper family sharing.
Even the system they randomly got rid of on the Switch would be sufficient.

This thread isn't about what is going/not going to happen... It's what changes we would make. - It's all hypothesizing.
And using a Legion Go with it's 8.8" screen, it's a really good size and experience, lets you pick out and appreciate the smaller details.

Could you clarify what you mean by this? Doesn’t NS2 already have this feature? Either press the Home button put the system to sleep, or hold down the Home button and press the sleep option there.

Not "Sleep" - I want to turn it off completely, as in Power off. The system is still running in sleep, I dont want that.

Like for an example on a computer, you can either Shut Down the computer or put it to sleep, I never use Sleep mode on anything.

Computers actually have a 3rd option. Hibernate.

Sleep is essentially a low-power state that suspends your current session to RAM for a quick resume.
Whilst Hibernate suspends your current session to the Hard Drive and turns off completely.
Shutdown doesn't save your current session and turns off completely.

I prefer a full system shutdown as the OS gets to start with a clean slate.

Like you, I avoid sleep, even though it saves power.. It doesn't save as much as a full shutdown, I am happy to spend the extra few minutes booting my Xbox/Playstation/Switch/PC.

With the Switch/Switch 2, just hold the power button for at least three seconds to access the power menu... Then select "Power Options," and then choose "Turn off".
Not sure if there is some vampiric power draw after the fact, it's been awhile since I have played with any of my Switch consoles.

Honestly overall Nintendo did a great job with the Switch 2 just improving on alot of the complaints and biggest issues with Switch 1 such as Joy Cons, build quality, specs, backwards compatibility, and features such as voice chat. However, there's still some stuff that has left to be desired.

I still wish the UI and the system itself has at least some sort of personality and feel like previous Nintendo consoles like the Wii, Wii U, & 3DS. Make the console feel memorable outside of just the games.

Battery life I wish was also better, its not so much that I just want to play the system for more than 2 hours, but I want to automatically play the system with at least a decent chunk of battery left and I dont really feel that with Switch 2 over Switch Oled.

Of course I do miss an Oled display as well, while Switch 2 screen is still definitely an improvement, its not as big of an improvement you'd expect or desire for a system that came out 8 years after the predecessor. Although 120hz is definitely great to have.

Also, this probably isnt a problem with the console itself, but I still feel like Nintendo could be doing better getting 3rd party support on the Switch 2 faster. Like its surprising we have yet to see anything major from Microsoft yet after being a good supporter for Switch 1 and publicly confirming their support for Switch 2, even COD wasn't released yet on Switch 2 while the PS4 still got a port and that game is under contract to release for Switch 2. Other 3rd party developers I expected a bit more rapid support too. It could be that for some reason Nintendo decided to limit sending development kits specifically for Switch 2, or maybe 3rd parties aren't going to support Switch 2 as much as I thought, so yea that's one potential flaw.
