Just watched the movie with my boyfriend and I need to say we're really surprised.
It was funny, charming and very creative. We left the theater with a big smile.
Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I give it 10/10 , Nintendo giving the fans the Fan service and fun want !!
The visuals and cute sounds , my eyes were opened 2 hours straight, I enjoy every single scene !!
Love Mario and Friends SO MUCH and can’t wait for Part 3 !!!

It was apparently actually intended to be in the games too, but Nintendo didn't get to include it for various reasons. So it might be that Nintendo used the movie to make it official. I found the movie pretty enjoyable. It's not high art, but a perfectly serviceable popcorn movie. My only regret is that the Koopalings didn't appear in the movie, I would have loved to see them supporting Bowser junior, and Kamek is really just making a fool of himself, here I expected more from his part. |

Finally got around to seeing this, as I was too depressed and sick to go to the cinema during its theatrical run.
Much like the first film, it's pure fairy floss (cotton candy for our American members) and there's pretty much zero depth or substance to it, but the visuals, soundtrack, and nostalgic references make it a fun guilty pleasure.
With Nintendo's movie push set to continue, it would be nice if they could invest in some better writers going forwards so the storytelling matches the quality of the presentation, but I still enjoyed this for what it was and it's easy to see why it was a hit.
As someone whose first exposure to Nintendo was the original Starfox, it was cool to see him get some love especially.
I just got to watch it as well. Didn't really like it. They had a chance to make Bowser interesting, but they were too scared to actually commit to the idea in the end, which makes the whole thing very ackward. Also, they butchered Rosalina and gave her the most boring and bland storytelling ever. This is very disappointing knowing how she is pretty much the only character in the Super Mario games with an actually interesting and somewhat deep story.
Everything else is just plain, insipid and with no substance whatsoever with a nice coat of visual effects and soundtrack. Then again... If I wanted gorgeous visuals and a stellar soundtrack I would just boot up the games. Funnily enough, I would also get a better story and some cool gameplay while I'm at it.
