Forums - Sales - PS5 Ships 84.2 Million Units as of September 2025, Ghost of Yotei Sells 3.3 Million

Yotei's reported numbers during launch week were slightly down on Tsushima in Europe/US/Japan Since Tsushima did 2.4m in 3 days, we can guess Yotei did around similar, let's say 2.2-2.3m.... meaning it's averaged 250k a week since launch.

I don't see this number falling with black Friday so it's at least doing another 1m in November & then likely another 1m in December

Give it's already not front loaded, no reason to suspect it's sales to fall of a cliff next year

PS5 was adjust up by nearly 1m units? Wow.

Year over year quarter 2 hardware shipments are 0.1million up from 3.8 million.

Platstation 5 Versus Playstation 4

For the 2nd quarter of the fifth full fiscal year (purple) the 3.9 million the PS5 shipped matches the PS4's 3.9 million. After 20 quarters the PS5 totals 84.2 million compared to 86.3 million for the PS4. This means launch aligned the PS5 is 2.1 million behind the PS4.
.

The PS5 has now surpassed GBA and PSP to become the tenth best selling console ever, it will easily overtake the X360 and PS3 after next quarter.

We have adjusted PS5 up to 81.21 million. The gap between shipped and our sell-through estimates are now at 2.99 million.

3 million gap between shipped and sold through seems quite high.

They have a modest goal of shipping 15 million consoles for the fiscal year ending march 2026. They clearly have no reason to overship to hit their target forecast.

I would say its most likely between 2 to 2.5 million.

Again, this is just speculation on my part based on their 15 million target and no real evidence of them overshipping.

Sony showed a 3 million gap between shipped and sold after they released their 2023 fiscal report so he's been using the 3 million gap as a guideline ever since for it. However that was the year they shipped and likely over shipped PS5's finally into the market.

So it likely has changed since then but it doesn't really matter since they have limited data and don't know for sure where exactly and how much certain areas are under tracked. Shipments are the only thing that really matters anyways, especially this late in the gen. Whatever stock is on shelves will be gone in 90 days after September 30th anyways.

And some people thought GTA6 + Pricecut would not help PS5 beat its previous year because supposedly no console can go up after a year of decline (which isn't even historically true, I think a couple of consoles already achieved that).

A shame GTA6 got delayed again, and instead of a price drop we got yet another hike with possibly more to come.

This.

I bet Sony are annoyed that they delayed it again.
Rumors say supposedly GTA6 is already in a playable state,
and they are using the last time to super polish it off (finding every glitch and bug, and minor little thing to fix) before launch.

Which is cool, its how games should be on release.
Still I bet, alot of people behinde the scenes really wished it had released with a few bugs ect :p

Yeah my take has long been it will do slightly better.
Depending on if its 2027 or 2028 the next generation comes out.... will determine how much it beats it by.

Crossing 90M in the next report. Which means Astro's Playroom is as well lol.

3.3M in a bit over a month for Yotei, but it's sold to consumers not shipped, pretty good results.

It's probably not hitting 10M like Tsushima eventually crawled to, but I can see 8M or maybe even 9M, which is great!

Yotei is definitely selling more than 10M+ lifetime lol.

Another incredible quarter for the PS5.

Almost 4M shipped despite recent price hikes.
