3 million gap between shipped and sold through seems quite high. They have a modest goal of shipping 15 million consoles for the fiscal year ending march 2026. They clearly have no reason to overship to hit their target forecast. I would say its most likely between 2 to 2.5 million. Again, this is just speculation on my part based on their 15 million target and no real evidence of them overshipping. |
Sony showed a 3 million gap between shipped and sold after they released their 2023 fiscal report so he's been using the 3 million gap as a guideline ever since for it. However that was the year they shipped and likely over shipped PS5's finally into the market.
So it likely has changed since then but it doesn't really matter since they have limited data and don't know for sure where exactly and how much certain areas are under tracked. Shipments are the only thing that really matters anyways, especially this late in the gen. Whatever stock is on shelves will be gone in 90 days after September 30th anyways.
