Good!
Software patents are stupid, not only when Nintendo does it. In gaming we have things like small games in the loading screen, a 3D arrow pointing you to your goal or similar stuff. This is ridiculous. Nintendos patents weren't even there, they extended an existing patent with new claims to cover Palworld after it existed.
Nintendo needs to lose it. Not because I'm a Nintendo hater (on the contrary actually), but because patents stifle innovation. I want Nintendo to thrive, but I want it by them producing great games with interesting ideas, not by suppressing ideas with patents. And we already see the effects. Pokemon Pokopia wouldn't exist without Palworld and it is as a game closer to Palworld than anything Pokemon game before in all of Pokemons existance. That alone should show you that Palworld is not a ripoff, but brought something new to the table. Gamefreak needs some kicks to the bottom, because they are complacent and not at all are realizing the full potential of what Pokemon as an IP could be able to do. Pokopia already shows that with competition like Palworld showing the way Pokemon can achieve so much more. This competition is actually good for all fans of Pokemon. Because there will be more good games with interesting ideas. Suffocating the competition will only keep Gamefreak complacent.

And I don't support the lawsuit btw, even though Pocket Pair did copy a bunch of Pokémon designs.

They went out of their way to copy Pokemon just to go viral instead of focusing on what makes sense for the type of game they were making.

Even Nintendo's lawyers don't think so. Otherwise they would sue in a much, much easier copyright lawsuit. They only don't do that, because they can't. Similarities, especially on common designs like animals or egyptian gods, aren't good enough. Similarities happen all the time, intentional or not. Outright copies are something different.
