Nope you’re good, Curl. :)

Scarlet/Violet, didnt play it on Switch 1 and I'm planning to play Scarlet soon on Switch 2
But...I find it hard to believe that anything is worse than or as bad as Sonic 06 - what a garbage game, I only paid $10 and I still felt ripped off.\
Dont get me started on Sonic Unleashed, the only game I can think of where half of the game was good and the other half was horrible - if you know, you know.

Trust me as I replayed Sonic Unleashed twice. PS3 in 2009 when I got me a PS3, and Xbox Series X in 2021 with the FPS boost making the game so much better (my favorite place to replay the day time stages). Also played it on Wii and PS2. Half good and half bad. Even though Sonic 06 is a bad game I still wouldn't say it's the worst. I would put Sonic and The Secret Rings, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric, and Sonic 3D Blast (IDK if it's mainline, but I'm counting it). Honestly Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic and the Secret Rings are my 2 worst games I ever played.

Sales alone doesn't determine if something is good or not.
Sword and Shield, Scarlett and Violet, A-Z are all "meh".
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Eh… call me a bootlicker for GameFreak, but recent leaks have shown a lot of promise (e.g. GameFreak responding to the controversy of BDSP by claiming that simple remasters are no longer sufficient, full remakes are the future; upcoming projects seem very promising, creating an entirely new engine and everything), and Z-A has been praised very highly — and rightfully so — by core fans of the franchise (though the general audience has not let go of SwSh+BDSP+ScVi). |
BDSP was not a remaster. Not were FRLG, HGSS or ORAS. BDSP aped the graphical style of DP but it was a remake.
Gen 9 is the fastest-selling Nintendo game to date and one of the fastest-selling ever. Despite what few similarities it has to Sonic 06, the differences are huge.
Sonic 06 still brings a shudder to Sonic fans and a lot of the gaming public. Despite a lot of disdain for Gen 9, I don't think it will reach that level.
Lifetime Sales Predictions

PS5: 122 million (was 105 million, then 115 million) Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)
Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)
PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)
3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

It's not even remotely comparable. Sonic 06 is barely even a game with how unfinished and buggy it is. Scarlet/Violet has bugs, yes, but it's very much a full, finished game with some technical issues (that I think were even patched later, if I'm not mistaken).
This is an absurd reach to make.

Why not compare Virtual Hydelide to Pokémon? NSMB is the Barts Nightmare of Mario!

I feel a lot of users didn’t read the OP: I’m not saying they are comparably poor in quality (as explicitly stated in OP) nor am I even making a statement on the commercial consequences of each entry. What I am saying is that both games have left a sour taste in the gaming community’s mouths following each’s release, to a point where even a solid entry (Sonic Unleashed, Legends Z-A) is being treated as a terribly poor release.
(Why I even open up nuanced discussion here is beyond me. Nobody cares to engage with more than 5 seconds of thought.)
