What are your thoughts on my the Halo Remake will not have pvp deathmatch?

When I saw the trailer it instantly jumped to one of my most anticipated titles for next year and day 1 purchase. For the record, i love Halo series, and was my first fps that I really got into, specifically halo 3 multiplayer, Halo 3 was also the first game I got all the achievements on.

But when I found out that there would be no standard halo multiplayer pvp, ctf, etc. The game went from day 1 to ill wait for a steam sale before picking it up.

Any idea on what Microsoft is going this route or being campaign only? Its fantastic that there will be coop up to 4 player. But still no pvp is a huge :(

My only guess is that they will have some type of COD/Fortnite/battlefield multiplayer only game for free, but will act as a stand alone title. Not wanting to split the multiplayer player base upon different remakes that will inevitable come down the road titles.

This is my only thought on why they would do this.

With the Halo brand having lost a ton of its mojo and fans seeming less than thrilled with the modernization of Campaign Evolved, I don't see it selling amazingly, even with the addition of the PS5 userbase.

I'm gonna say nostalgia carries it to a bit below 10m.

I would say anything around 10m is an amazing achievement for the franchise. Even at it's peak this was pretty much the average...

I imagine most of this will be driven by Playstation tbh. Like 5-6m on playstation, 5m on PC/Xbox. I think around 10m is a good bet also because gamepass will be eating some sales figures.

They'll never release the sales figures. So we'll never know.

But I seriously doubt this campaign only remake will get over 10m sales. Halo 3 is the only title in the series to achieve that.

Halo seems like an old school franchise these days like Doom. So like Doom it should have fairly limited sales potential and will mostly be just a gamepass ''player count'' title. Maybe they will make a PR about Halo ''reaching 3M players at launch'', with like 2M+ of them being gamepass users.

Around 9 million:
3.6 million PC, 3.6 million P55, 1.8 million Xbox Series XS.

Halo is more popular on PC, but PS5 will have a much higher percentage of players who never played Halo or didn't play it in a long time. I think this will push PS5 version sales to around PC levels, if not potentially higher. But total sales ain't coming close to Forza Horizon 5.

Big games today just sell more in general than they did say in the 7th gen; back then you were doing well if you sold say 4-5 million copies of your latest blockbuster, now first party heavy hitters routinely crack 20m, so it will get a boost from that and from PS players who were Xbox players back in the day before jumping ship, and some who just want to see what the fuss is about.

Based on attach rates, Halo 2 would have blown right by it if it had had the chance. lol
