Edit: Though to follow up this comment with some extra thoughts, I think you make a good case as to why the existence of Nintendo, Sony, and PC hardware are all essential to gaming, that they each offer different ways to play video games. For the casual consumer hesitant to pour a lot of money into a PS5 or PC, Nintendo is always going to be a solid entry point. For the consumer who is looking for a little more of a “premium” experience (specifically when it comes to 3rd party titles) but is wary on investing in a PC, then PS5 is a solid option. For those who are fully invested into gaming (and will be unbothered by a hefty price tag or convoluted hardware setup) and don’t care about physical ownership, then PC is a great option.

I wouldn’t ever want all of gaming to be confined to a single device, as (i) you’d be losing that technical “Wow!” factor on Nintendo hardware, (ii) you’d be losing portability and hardware innovation on Sony hardware, (iii) you’d lose physical ownership and suffer an out-priced market of casual consumers on PC.

2023: 184 Billion, 89.9 Billion Mobile, 94 Billion consoles + PC
2024: 188 Billion, 92.6 Billion Mobile, 95 Billion consoles + PC
2025: 189 Billion, 103 Billion Mobile, 86 Billion consoles + PC (projected)

Mobile is still growing, PC was still growing, console software revenue was already shrinking.
There's no growth for a new competitor to come in.

Xbox having new hardware won't be relevant if the hardware is a bunch of PC configurations. This would turn it into a non factor in the hardware space. I'm not "concerned" about it though. MS can make Xbox relevant again IF they want to. But it seems they're more interested in being a dominant software publisher.

I don't trust any company. But I wouldn't call my lack of trust for Sony a "concern", because there will be other options that take advantage of Sony's or anyone's mess. It happened with X360 which I bought 2 years before PS3 and played more games on it. If Sony doesn't deliver, I'll just upgrade my PC sooner and occasionally borrow PS6 for the games I'm missing. It's a non-issue.

The next gen Xbox Console will most likely be like the RoG Ally X in a home console form. Do you actually think because MS says its a PC/Console hybrid that its going to be a Desktop PC? 

You most likely wouldn't even tell the difference in the hardware that's out now and the next gen hardware, only difference is you will be able to download other storefronts. Its really not a hard concept to grasp. 

I remember the old console war concept and how it pitted everyone against one another, now no one gaf, let's be real, people just play game and go pew pew. It's kinda peaceful. At least from what I've seen from fans.

Exactly right, he used a false narrative and the traditional none relevant common concern and then backflipped in saying Sony needs competition in the same post. 

Its either you trust or dont trust a brand. Its either you care or you dont care. He cares for competition but doesnt care about competition. Its a sort of mental gymnastics we see alot of.

I feel like the 7th Generation was the last generation of gaming (namely until around 2012-2013 as the 8th Generation was starting) where a disproprionate amount of time was spent playing on consoles and handhelds instead of PC or mobile.
