Amazon is not going to enter the 'race'

https://www.eurogamer.net/amazon-reportedly-gutting-its-video-game-division-as-part-of-14000-company-wide-job-cuts

Amazon's game division is closing up shop.

The console wars are over because the pie is shrinking.

Global gaming software revenue:

2023: 184 Billion, 89.9 Billion Mobile, 94 Billion consoles + PC
2024: 188 Billion, 92.6 Billion Mobile, 95 Billion consoles + PC
2025: 189 Billion, 103 Billion Mobile, 86 Billion consoles + PC (projected)

Mobile is still growing, PC was still growing, console software revenue was already shrinking.
There's no growth for a new competitor to come in.

And the overall console units sold from the data we have peaked in the 7th Generation.

DS: 154.9 mil

Wii: 101.64 mil

PS3: 87.41 mil

360: 85.8 mil

PSP: 81.09 mil

Total: 510.84 mil units

I feel like the 7th Generation was the last generation of gaming (namely until around 2012-2013 as the 8th Generation was starting) where a disproprionate amount of time was spent playing on consoles and handhelds instead of PC or mobile.
