Also, are we counting the portable PS5 in total PS5 sales? If so its gonna obliterate the PS4 in sales. On second thought i think the device will also play PS6 games so it might not be right to classify it as a PS5.

Yea ofcoursee, the portable only switch model is also being counted as a "switch" sale, even thou it cant "switch"

I don't think it's going to be considered part of the PS5 family by Sony though. As it's supposedly launching alongside or close to the PS6 I imagine they will count it as part of that family. So yes like you say, if anything I think it would count towards PS6 sales. But I guess we'll see, if it comes out and only plays the PS5 versions of games then...

The handheld will probably be a PS6, as every/most PS6 games might be required to have a handheld mode. On the other hand most old PS5 games will need patching to work properly (the handheld may run the PS4 versions for heavy non-patched games).

100% YES.
This year alone, several people in my circle of friends have treated themselves to a PS5 for the first time - mainly because of "Death Stranding 2," "Ghost of Yotei," and because all PS4 games are playable on it. Next year, the best GTA 6 version will be released on PS5/PRO. Along with several exclusives and a high-quality "Wolverine" game.
Additionally, all Xbox games will be released on the PS5, according to Microsoft. That's why I'm convinced.

Its definitely going to. Hell it could end up selling close to 130 million.

There is a small indie game called GTA 6 which upon its release is going to send Shockwaves across the industry. And all those under estimating it will definitely feel them.

This thread is hilarious. GtA 6 isn't just some game. It will for a period of time outshine the entire industry and will be the greatest entertainment release of all time.. The PS5 WILL outsell the Switch 2 next year and it won't be close. Given the current state of everything at this moment, you should absolutely expect the PS5 to pass the PS4.

Sony will 100% bundle the game and there is a battery of dozens of millions of PS4 gamers, PC gamers and just people in general who will show up for this game and that's just objectively true.

The PS5 is a really expensive purchase around here, the Pro is nearly double the price.

I have a friend that got the PS5 to play Genshin Impact because her laptop was trash and she could also play Final Fantasy there too, as both her and her husband like it.

They definitely are not big gamers as to keep buying many games, and even considering the price of the Pro and their income, her husband still managed to convice her to get a PS5 Pro for GTA 6, just for that one game. The have both the PS5 and the Pro now.

So yeah, at least for a while, it's going to be huge to get more casual and over the fence people to the system.

I don't think it'll have the same kind of impact some people seem to think, but it's certainly going to be THE thing gaming is going to be focused on for some time, other studios know that and are openly trying to avoid being near it.

This totally.  Its on a seperate level that sits above everything else.  And I think that the PS5 Pro exists exclusively for this game.  It is just Sony's dumb luck that this will be the main platform for GTA 6.  A more interesting question would be whether the PS5 could beat the PS4 without it.  BTW... I recent started playing Legend of Dragoon again and I have to admit, I'm really impressed.

Cool, are you playing the digital PS4/PS5 version?

I got it for free as Sony honored my 2014 purchase on PS3 so it carried over and I'm so freaking happy I have a platinum trophy for it now, even as nearly all trophies are to just beat the game.

Yes I'm playing the digital PS5 edition.  I'm a bit of a completionist so this may become like a 100 hour journey for me.  I'm just so impressed with te presentation.  That they pulled this off on a PSOne is really something.  I hope they do a remaster or remake but the original clearly stands on its own.
