For those who primarily game on Xbox, if MS does decide to discontinue making Xbox hardware, which platform will you jump ship to, and why that platform specifically?

I'm not an Xbox gamer but my bet is PC. Even with Xbox still supporting consoles, the weak Xbox Series XS aren't translating to PS5 outpacing PS4, and we know that PC is the fastest growing platform. So Xbox players may already be slightly contributing to PC's growth (although the biggest contributor by far would be the rise of China).
Xbox hardware is also not exactly exiting, rather it's transforming to PC gear. This alongside MS having a PC store and programs like "Play Anywhere" and "PC GamePass" should help with the jump to PC.

With Steam having exploded over the past 6y, having double in peak concurrent users for instance, my guess is that PC is where they’ve been heading.
Pc.
I've already jumped over. Still have a series x though.
Just makes sense. Get more games, xbox, Sony.... Nintendo if you really wanted... All looking and performing better than console.
I'm already on Playstation, Nintendo and PC for years.
Xbox was just an addition to my gaming eco.
I just hope I can still access the titles especially the b/c titles in some way.

I'm a multi-console person. The only major home consoles I missed out on in the past 30 years was the Saturn (discontinued a few months before I got my first job) and the PS3 (didn't have the money at the time and my roommate had one). I'll just start buying MS Studios games on PlayStation. I was likely planning on doing that regardless of whether MS releases another Xbox console. Even if they do, there's not much point in buying one if I can get all of their first-party games on PS. I just hope MS makes an officially licensed Xbox-style controller for PlayStation at some point, because I do prefer their controllers to Sony's (the DS4 and DualSense were huge improvements over previous PS controllers, though).

I made the jump over to PC this generation. All Xbox games day one, still have Game Pass, and most PlayStation games within 2 years of release.

Looking at data for broader trends, I think primarily Playstation and then steam...
"As of February 2025, 40% to 42% of PS5 owners were new users."
I do think people underestimate the number who jumped to playstation.
Playstation saw a growth of 35million during the PS4 era and that ended prematurely by Sony killing it's production asap. Meanwhile this gen is far from over but we know a huge amount of PS users simply haven't upgraded from PS4... I think an actual decent portion of PS5 users are from Xbox One and migration from PS4 is lower than the pure numbers imply.
Although steam is growing I think that is mostly younger players and emerging markets like Asia Primary console gamers will mostly migrate to another console for the user experience imo

I'll probably just play PC more to pick up the slack (may need a couple hardware upgrades though). Already have a Switch, still hesitant to get Switch 2 but I will eventually get one. Was never a Sony guy even dating back to the 90s and I doubt I'll ever be one.

Solid points. Though I have no wonder how many of the remaining PS4 players will upgrade to PS5 at all. GTA6 should be fun to follow.
