Forums - Sales - Battlefield 6 sells over 7 million in 3 days, new franchise record

Looks like the game is a hit out of the gate, with a bigger opening than any previous Battlefield game:

I love to see a big release hitting the industry! This alongside FIFA(?) make for two games in very close proximity to smash through 5-10mil very shortly after launch.

Also, maybe CoD has some competition this holiday? Fortnite, Borderlands, Battlefield… it’s not a desolate market at the moment.

With hype for BO7 low Battlefield might actually steal COD's thunder this time. It'll still easily sell over 10m of course but compared to other entries from the past several years this one will probably notably underperform and do even worse than MWIII.

I know Activision said they are not worried....

but BF6 is still doing 450,000 daily active players on steam (it seems to be holding around there).
It seems to be doing well on PlayStation and Xbox too.

With how close these are launching to one another, there could be some impact right?

I was a huge fan of BF 2, 3, and 4, and people said that this reminded them of these installments. However, it looks very frantic, and with tiny maps, so I'm getting CoD vibes from it. This could possibly widen its appeal, but it makes it less attractive for me. The older BF games were always about slower, more methodical gameplay, where the majority wanted to play the more strategic CtF mode most of the time. I'm also seeing people bragging about K/D ratios in chats and forums, which is yet another indicator that this title serves the CoD base, first and foremost, since this was never a huge thing with core BF fans back in the day.

On a different note; it looks gorgeous, and it actually runs really well! It's nice with a counterweight to the endless UE5 clones crashing systems all over the planet.

I don't know, Metro was wildly popular and that map was pure chaos. And bragging about K/D is as old as online-shooters themselves. People did that way before CoD even was a thing.

I am quite satisfied with BF6. Sure, it's not the exact same thing as BC2, BF3 or whatever. But it doesn't need to be. It's a whole lot better than 2042 and although the maps are on the smaller side, it still feels very much like a Battlefield game.

I'm not sure it will do it, but this is the first time BF actually has a shot at beating CoD.

Blackops 7 straight after Blackops 6 may pull a MWIII and see a significant decline in sales.

Against a title like Infinite Warfare this would have destroyed it.

Not a fan of the genre, so I can't even tell which is which, but good for them I guess. Gaming does in fact not seem to be dying.

That's 7% of the sales target of 100 million is that good?

Worth noting that reported target by EA of 100m players was including a f2p battle royale mode that is reportedly on the way.
