IMO - Mostly because Sony got it so right with the PS2. They'd have probably lost interest in the market if the PS2 hadn't worked out. the way it did...

A fair point. They don't have the war chest Microsoft had and has. Had the PS2 flopped or just been a small success, PS3 could've been the last console or never made at all.

Only one home console has lost them money to date when combining hardware, software, etc. and that's PS3. PS Vita also lost them money but not as much because they simply didn't invest in it as much.

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

If Sony make a teletubbies or Dora Explorer PS5 exclusive game, true to their TV shows identity, you definitily would say the same shit lol

Depends. Is Dora the biggest game on PS5? Because right now, the biggest on S2 is DKB, which is basically Wreck It Ralph in video game form. On PS5, it's either Death Stranding 2 or GOY.

Nick Jr. vs HBO.

Totally missed the point, lol. You said that love Astrobot bc it doesnt feel like Nick Jr material... for real?K

It didn't to me. It felt more like a Ratchet or Jax game etc.

Sony had the right console with the right hardware features at the right price with the right games at the right time... And that rolled into the PS2 era perfectly.

The only disruption Sony has ever had in the home console market was the 7th gen when Nintendo pushed motion controls which went viral... And Microsoft had the right hardware at the right price with the right games with some pretty awesome features for the time.

The only time Sony has struggled with gaming hardware was it's handheld division. - And that is why they have stuck around in the gaming-sphere, it just prints them money.

It also helps that Sony hasn't been afraid to change things up to fix shortcomings with their offerings. - I.E. Cost reductions with the PS3 in order to have the right pricing for mainstream appeal.

Naming the consoles 1 2 3 4 5, has definitely helped. I don't think it's a coincidence that the worst selling sony console is the vita which forgoes sony's usual naming conventions. There is definitely more to it then that, but it has always confused me why other console makers don't do the same.

Ah, the good old fashion ad hominem argument. Even though I understand its mechanisms, which basically alleviates most of the blame on the part of the person resorting to it, it still never fails to strike me as just plain rude.

Consistency in terms of hardware (well maybe minus the PS3 lol)

Variety of different IPs (though unfortunately most became dormant).

LOL, Wreck It Ralph is based on video games.  It's basically the OG Donkey Kong and Crazy Climber combined.  It's literally paying homage to early video games.
