Forums - Sales - Famitsu Sales: Week 39, 2025 (Sep 22 - Sep 28)

Expectations were too high for Sonic Crossworlds. MK World is not a relevant comparison, Kirby Air Riders vs Sonic Crossworlds is the realistic sales comparison.

24. [NS5] Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds – 2,194 / NEW

Is NS5 a Switch 2 or PS5? lol

On one had, I expect the desire for a kart racer to be stronger on PS5 due to the lack of Mario. On the other hand it is definitely a game people would prefer to get on the go.

I know some people are surprised by the weak performance but despite being a sonic fan, I've never got the excitement for sonic racing. The movment and animation just lacks fluidity & charm. And with no brand power carrying in in Japan, I didn't expect much

An extremely rare feat for a franchise to repeak on Playstation. I guess this is down to the setting and visual style resonating quite strongly

Still a lot of Konami fans wanting to see what they cooked with their big new release.

Keep it up Konami we need a great comeback (to give us a new CastleVania)!

NS1 to 170 million

Any predictions out there for First week sales of Yotei in Japan?

In think it will sell less physical units than GoT due to digital being more popular and digital only consoles. So I am going to say around 125k physical

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Even the mainline Sonic games arent popular in Japan. I dont think any recent releases did more than 20k first week on any platform.

Kirby Air Riders is going to outsell Racing Crossworlds lifetime sales as well, by a lot, in the first week of release.

Mario Kart World really shouldnt be a relevant comparison in the first place.

Didn't expect the Switch 1 to go back over 20k and the PS5 over 10k again this soon so hardware is doing better than I expected currently which is nice to see. The PS5 should have a decent week again next time too thanks to Yotei.

Well, PS5 was to be expected with Silent Hills and Atelier releases, especially with the sales that Silent Hills F has.

The Switch going up by almost 7k just because of Atelier and 9 RIP Sequel is much more surprising imo. Is the Switch 2 having supply issues in Japan?

I didn't think Silent Hill of all things would do that but yeah the Switch 1 is the more surprising one. The Switch 2 has been having supply issues there the entire time basically from what I've seen though so I imagine that is a factor.

Sounds like a good prediction.  Truth is, using physical sales as a barometer for performance is getting more and more troublesome by the day.  I think I am part of that problem.  I am ashamed to admit that I have only purchased one physical PS5 game since it launched in 2020.

My intuition tells me though that this particular release may out perform GoT.  I come to that conclusion from the headlines out of Japan.  I do not remember hearing reports like this for GoT.  I'm going to predict 165K.  Even if it is more popular, I predict that a more popular digital format as well as digital only consoles, as you stated, will keep it from outperforming GoT by too much.    Excited to see the result in about a day.
