It's beyond dumb what he's doing there.

1. Battleships are old, outdated technology and simply can't compete with carriers in terms of range.

2. He's claimed it would become the biggest battleships ever made. So this means they would need to become larger than the Bismarck and the Yamato, as in, giant targets with thousands of sailors on board to run the ships efficiently and needing several years to build one, let alone 25, at a time where US shipyards can't fulfill the orders they already have in the pipeline, and have several failed projects that piled up in the last couple years like the constellation class ships.

China is probably rolling on the floor laughing at the thing right now...

Now that I had the chance to let this percolator in my noggin, i guess that it's not as bad as it sounds. The navy probably realizes that this is a horrible idea bc of the reasons you outlined, and they will  probably not actually build any Trump class warships. 

They know how his narcissism works and impressing politicians. lol

You are forgetting that DT has constantly been replacing the upper echelon of the military leadership with bootlickers and Yesmen so everybody will just applaud. That thing will be started no matter what.

Considered the cancellation of the LTC, The Constellation program and let's not forget the Zumwalt, I am sure this ship will turn out to be yet another disaster. The demands for the ship will be unreasonable for an affordable price point.

The US needs Frigates, however you can't have AEGIS, Lasers, Helicopter Platform, Naval  gun, an enormous amount of missiles and be fast and also weigh a lot less than a Burke. The constellation and LTC platform showed that. The Zumwslt tried to be a battleship but we know how that ended.

I like how Trump thinks that he should decide the design of battleships because he understands aesthetics. Like, even if that were true (which probably isn't), who the fuck cares about how those ships look? They are supposed to be designed for only two purposes, to destroy and to be hard to be destroyed. No damn inch of those ships should be designed for the looks...

Btw does he want to have everything in USA called by his name anytime soon? Trump Kennedy center, Trump class of battleships...why didn't he call it Gulf of Trump? And why the fuck don't his own followers think it's weird considering which kind of human would even do that.

Far too many of his followers are reveling in both actual and potential cruelty to other people.
