No reason to make FE exclusive to Switch 2. Game looks bad, og Switch can run It for sure.
Talking about games looking bad... All games look dated as @$$*, even Metroid looks like a early PS4 game from 2013-2015.

Pokemon lauching with DLC, Virtual "no one asked for" Boy, Mario Galaxy collection at $70 (more expensive than in 2007-20010)

Nintendo being greed as always.

You see, it’s this kind of negativity that I don’t understand. Not even upset with the games themselves, just complaining about graphics, pricing, and…I’m not sure what to classify “no one asked for” as. This forum has been overwhelmingly negative in recent times when compared to ResetEra, FamiBoards, X, etc. Life’s a lot better when you aren’t constantly complaining. For how you described everything, a B- seems very generous.

I’m not calling for “toxic positivity,” but for looking on the bright side. I recognize the offensively greedy practices of Nintendo in recent times, and I have even voiced my grievances to an extent, but ultimately, there’s no point in acting like it’s not extremely charming that Nintendo has chosen to include VB to NSO (at no additional cost to the service, I should add), or that the newest FE—though it may look “dated”—is still a new mainline FE game.

The Virtual Boy games would be fine if you didn't need to pay $25 (or $100!) on top of a $50 subscription to play them.

The games are okish, Ninty needs time to Cook. They showed fire emblem, prime 4 and Pokémon, this makes a "auto B" at least... That said.

Price and value are the big problems. I feel like Nintendo is asking too much for too little, there's just too much greed. Nintendo makes the least expensive games and are selling at Premium price, like something similar to GTAVI.

That's Just my take.

If you take pricing and the pacing/entertainment value of the Direct out of the equation, it would probably be a B.
I can't give it any higher than a C. The Galaxy games, Virtual Boy, and Amiibo are all very overpriced. And the information provided did not need to be paced around 1 hr 6 min. It could've been 45 minutes.
No big first-party games were revealed, not one. That's an issue for a console with a 2026 that was so in the dark. Fire Emblem isn't big. I was expecting Luigi's Mansion 4, Animal Crossing or both. Fire Emblem is not the game to end an over hour long direct on.
Third-party also could've been more engaging.

This one wasn't for me, not into fire emblem. I am into metroid but that anticipation has been milked for how many years now?

I'm also into Mario Galaxy, but at 40 dollars per minimum-possible-effort-port, crazy!

For 40 dollars we got a full remake level remaster of metroid prime, they're now going in at that same price point but with precisely none of the effort on their side!? Honestly, I'd like to hear anyone give a defence of that. Just pure greed.

Any time a company has a successful period enshitification is almost always sure to follow & it's seemingly no different for Nintendo. Just torching hard earned goodwill from fans for a buck. I don't even see the business case here, surely that price point is gonna turn off most potential buyers...?

I thought the overall presentation was quite sloppy as well tbh. They'd show game clips with narration then switch back to the Nintendo execs who'd then just repeat the same thing and show the same clips, eh?

Finally, not really into the yoshi game aesthetic. I think they could have leveraged S2 to really push a wooly world style or go high detail claymation. The painterly style just looks less fun/cute. Missed opportunity imo but appreciate that's a taste thing.

P. S. Do we really need another kirby air ride direct?

The fact that they didn't remake the Galaxy games or at least remake the graphics when a movie is coming out and Galaxy 3 is heavily likely now is baffling. The 2 Galaxy games are masterpieces and in my Top 4 games but the price is high for what you get relative to the small cost these are for Nintendo. The HD/4K ports of these probably cost a few million USD at best.

I'm admittedly not much of a techie. I do watch my fair share of DF so absorb some info through osmosis, there are some very clued up posters here that will have proper insight, but I'd be shocked if the cost was that high.

Like how many developer hours could a port like this really require?

Whole games can be made for a few million dollars these days in the indie space that look technically miles better than these 2 ports...

All the merch they were pushing as well... Am I watching a games reel or QVC?

If any 3D Mario game that needs to be remade, it has to be Super Mario 64 lol.

Make your case why it wasn't a good Direct, if you have one. Feel free to copy-paste your reasoning from another thread.

galaxy 1 and 2 re-releases? mario wonder switch 2 edition? are we to expect more of this? what about wii u games turned switch ports, am i to expect switch 2 editions of many of these games? im sick of these efforts. they have released galaxy twice now on the same console. they also announced dlc for a game before its release. unacceptable behavior. the metroid footage was cool but the game is coming out in a few months, it doesnt really add anything to the direct itself. i was also disappointed that there was no collectors edition announced for power wash simulator, so that was a big missed opportunity.

yoshi, mario tennis, fire emblem, resident evil, all good stuff. but thats about where it ends. my initial impression was a bit harsh (1/10) so ill raise it to 3/10

Mario Tennis

Fire Emblem

Resident Evil

Fatal Frame 2

Pokopia

Fatal Frame 2

Bananza DLC

Fatal Frame 2

Mega Delphox

Fatal Frame 2

Have I mentioned they are remaking Fatal Frame 2?

I didn't own a Switch when Nintendo released their stupid FOMO Mario 3D Collection, so I'm excited for Galaxy 1&2 as well, but I won't get it for full price.

fatal frame 2 is cool and everything but at the end of the day its a remake of a 20 year old game. maybe if it were a fatal frame 5 localization or fatal frame 6, that would be way more hype. ok i admit, the remake is still cool but i have a much stronger preference for actual new releases. you would be just as hyped if it were a new fatal frame altogether, probably more.

Fatal Frame 5 already came out WW on all platforms back in 2021.
